Question about Projector Accessories

Infocus X2 We (school) has a Infocus projector that will not turn on. The red blinking light blinks just once, which should be "lamp and lamp door installation loose connections" I checked it and everything looks good. Could it be that the bulb is out? We've had it less than a year.

I can almost guarantee that your bulb is out. We probably have 20-30 projectors of this model in the school and bulb life averages a little over 100 hours even though they advertise 3000 hours. Infocus has been known most for their poor cooling system to the bulb over the years and most owners won't get the life expectancy of the bulb. If you remove the bulb you will find a small restrictive vent screen on the bulb and commonly it will be filled with collected dust. This model really doesn't have any removable/cleanable filtering system installed - again a cheap and poorer design then many other brands. We have decided not to purchase infocus projectors anymore in the district. They were a seller at one time because they were cheap, but because they don't last they weren't really a deal after all. Sometimes though a ballast for a projector will go out and it will be unable to power up a good bulb. I wouldn't consider fixing it because of their overall poorer reliability.  If your looking for a cheap but more reliable brand of projectors I'd steer towards Epson projectors. They tend to have lower costing projectors and bulbs then most and I have seen in person that they last well above their advertised lamp hours in different models. Their are many good brands out there but InFocus is not really one of them - they have under built projectors and poor phone support.
Hope this helps a little. - Scott

Most likely it is the lamp. That you have had it less than a year is not significant. It is how many hours you have put on it. Those lamps are supposed to be good for about 4000 hours. Some get more, some less.

Infocus sp5000 red led blinks once indicating lamp

be sure and reset the lamp hours. Flash the software if you can. These are also notorious for the ballast cable on the inside of the lamp housing backing out when a lamp is removed or replaced. If you have the cover off push the cables back into place and hold them there as you install the lamp. Also look directely at your lamp in the center and move it side to side and up and down. If there are any cracks or frosty looking spots or bubbles in the mirror of the lamp that are visible, then the lamp is probably shot. If all this fails, most likely it is the power supply, or the lamp door has gotten mishapen from heat and the actuator on the lamp door isn't making full contact with the safety swith.

check the colorwheel. if the colorwheel doesn't spin, the lamp won't light. if no fans come on either, replace the power supply.

there isn't one. you need to see the menu. but what color is the led and is it blinking?
green- all is well
red blinking:
1 time- lamp not striking after 5x.
2 times- lamp has more than 3000 hrs. replace lamp.
3 times- lamp failure. replace lamp.
4 times- fan failure. shuts down.
5 times- undiagnosed error. possibly ballast or colorwheel.

if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. when you turn on the projector, do you hear a high-pitched whir? if not, the colorwheel needs replacing.

Lamp doesn't light on SP 500, SP-Lamp-017. How do

you'd need the lamp on to get into the menu to reset the timer, so it's not that. if the door hits and activates the switch, it may be the ballast.

Infocus lamp not firing

more then likely the ballast has gone bad and the lamp is not getting the right voltage to fire. Only other thing you can do is remove the lamp the turn the power on and check the voltage at the connector. This will not check the triggering voltage mine you only the lower operating voltage. But since you have replace the bulb with a known good one I'm betting on the ballast is bad.
