SOURCE: my powerhead drive belt to

Turn the PN bottom up. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the six screws in the base. Turn PN over and lift back of cover, then gently manipulate it until it comes off.
Slide the belt off motor shaft, if necessary. Remove the screws on each end of the brush and lift the end of the brush so you can remove the belt, if necessary. Place new belt on brush and place brush into slot. Replace screws and tighten. Pull belt back to motor shaft and slip on. Check belt for tautness. There should be a little play, but not much. Make sure belt is placed correctly and rotate brush a few turns.
I recommend cleaning the inside of the PN while you have it apart. Use the dust brush to vacuum as much as possible out.
Make sure the light cover is in the correct position. Carefully place front lip of PN cover into slot in front.of the PN. Carefully settle cover in place. Check around the PN to ensure cover and base are correctly placed. Turn PN over and replace screws, short one in front.

I do recommend letting a trained Aerus Electrolux tech do this, especially since the belt will have a one year warranty if he/she does it. Of course the belt should last longer than that, anyway.

Would like to know if there is a reset button on the Electrolux Upright Vacuum Cleaner! Model # EL5010 Type :A-1

Hi, check the troubleshooting on page 19 of the manual. I does,'t mention a reset button but I would imagine that it has a self-resetting thermal switch which could take half an hour for the motor to cool down (fairly common).

Does the epic 3500 have a belt? It seems that when running on the carpet setting, it is very noisy and is not picking up the way it should. When we run it on the floor setting, it sounds better, but the...

Yes, it does. It definitely sounds like a broken belt. And the noise would probably be due to the belt still being in the machine and hitting the motor shaft.
Due to some difficulty in reassembling the powerhead and getting the belt to the correct tension, I strongly recommend taking it to your local Aerus Electrolux store for replacement. Ask the tech to clean it while you're there.

Did you check the belt? A broken belt results in lower strain on the motor, causing it to run faster resulting in the faster speed and higher pitch. This could result in overheating, which will cause the motor to shut off.
If this isn't the problem you'll need to take it to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for trouble-shooting and repair.

The agitator brush of my central vacuum cleaner didn't roll. What's the problem of it?

If the power nozzle motor is running, then the problem is a broken belt. It's recommended that it be taken to an authorized shop for replacement.
If the PN motor is not running, locate the reset switch on top of the PN and depress. If the motor still does not come on, there's a problem in the wiring or power module. The entire machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle needs to be taken to the nearest authorized shop for exact diagnosis and repair/replacement of parts.
If the machine is the old style Electrolux (now known as Aerus), not sold in home improvement stores, the nearest authorized store can be found on the below site. Just follow the instructions.

The carpet sweeper on my electrolux stopped working....used it for a little bit and then it just stopped

Make sure the brush is cleared and clean, press the reset button, and try again.
If the motor runs, but the brush doesn't turn, it's likely due to a broken belt. Have it replaced by someone who knows what they're doing.
I strongly recommend taking it into an authorized shop.

I vacuumed a shirt. It came out immediately and there is now visible damage. The suction is working but the rotary piece with the brushes is not

Have you pressed the reset button on the power nozzle? If the power nozzle motor isn't running, this is the problem. If the PN motor is running, the problem is more likely to be a broken belt, and it needs replaced.
If the belt, I strongly recommend taking it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer to have it replaced. It can be tricky disassembling and reassembling the PN without damaging something.

I think my vacuum is even older. It's a tank type. My carpet attachment won't spin where the brush rotates.

The first thing to do is make sure the power nozzle motor is working. If it is, then check the belt by trying to spin the brush. If it spins freely, the belt is broken and needs replaced.
If the power nozzle motor is NOT running, there could be several things.
1. Make sure brush is clear and cleaned of all loose strings, cords, and other foreign matter.
2. Press reset button. Try vacuum again.

If it still doesn't run, ensure all wire connections are tight, and have no indication of arcing, i.e., blackened or burnt connections. Any such connections need replaced.
There could be a broken wire in the hose. Usually the hose will need to be replaced, but occassionally it can be repaired.
Internal wiring worn or broken. Needs repaired/replaced.
All repairs should be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service technician at an Aerus store. Check the phone book, or go to the following site to locate the store nearest you.

The brush on the power nozzle N137P does not rotate on my Guardian and I can't get it apart to see if the belt is broken.

First of all, have you tried pushing the reset button?Do you hear the brush motor come on when you push the switch on the hose? If the belt is broken the brush will spin freely without any resistence.
The elbow of the power nozzel has a history of breaking and one or both wires in it will loose connection and the motor will not run.
There are five screws on the bottom of the power nozzel. Four long screws and one shorter screw. Be sure to mark where the short screw goes for re-assembly. Then the top will lift off. You might want to take it to your Aerus/Electrolux shop for repair. Your Guardian should be under waranty.

My Electrolux is about 3 years old. Never had any problems with it until recently, it is LOUD. It doesn't seem to make a 'normal' running noise unless it butts up against a wall, furniture, etc. trying to vacuum is like being on a jet runway. Is something clogged? Does it just have issues from not being used for about a year? (Last house had no carpet).

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
It sounds to me that you have a broken fan, in every vacuum I have seen with the loud noise such as you described, it has been a broken fan or fan blade and is in need of replacement. You can try to do it yourself but I suggest going to your local vacuum cleaner dealer for service with the problem. Remember, a suggested belt change if the belt is flat would be 4 to 6 months and If you have a geared belt the belt change would be one year or better depending on wear factor. So, if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
