Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

I have a GV3070X, had it since new, it has stopped recording, both sides. been trying to find someone to repair same, no luck. It has been a excellent machine, and I hate to throw it away. Can you help find someone in the Lansing Mi area, and/or give me an idea on how to correct the problem. Thank you very much. Mr Bertram

OK, after looking around and talking with my electronics repair friend ... ( I repair LCD's He does big electronics ) it will most likely cost as much as your system is worth to fix it, If it were just a power ON problem maybe it could be fixed but more then likely its a IC chip or "head Issue" here is my solution .... BUY THIS ONE it's been serviced, has a remote and is a newer model than yours. Have a look by copying this link to your browser

Pioneer PL200 very low volume in one channel

its most likely a break in the rca phono leads coming out of the rear of the deck? maybe try jiggling them whilst playing a record to see if the sound comes on? if this is the case you could maybe locate by jiggling up and down the cable till you locate where the break is and cut of the cable, add a new phono by usung an electrical joint connector (the type electricians use to joint two wires via plastic connector with screws in?) and see if this solves it? failing that get the rca phonos completely rewired by a competent repairer? good luck

I have a multitrack cassette recorder MCR-4 made by AMR. In fast foward or rewind it only runs for a few secounds and stops. It does this each time you press the direction button. The tape does stay...

Hi the most common problem i have found here is that although the tapes look OK, they are very tight in case to go forward/back. Banging on the side of the cassette fairly hard on a flat surface a few times, both sides, quite often get rids of it. If that doesnt work, then will need a service on machine. Also try a new cassette..

Best of luck

CD door not opening.

Usually failure to open means a faulty motor - when you press eject ca you hear the motor spinning or is it quiet? If in the UK contact me via ebay - fluffcat1 - and I can help further.

Won't record

I've just spoken to a friend who also has one of these older Philips recorders & he has the same problem.

As per my previous post, he fixed his problem by locating old stocks of blanks. New audio discs seem to have been manufactured & optimised for fast writing speeds (up to 32x speed) & this is causing the problem (you can't write at x1 or x2 speed to these new speedy discs).

Trying a few different brands of discs to try out is a whole lot cheaper than a repair. I suggest when you find a brand that works, you stock up on these discs as it seems they will become ever rarer.

Good luck!

Failed to stop recording problem

I also bought this when it was new. I also paid about $150 for it and also had the exact same problem after a while. It seems that after so many hours some of the features stop working. However, through trial and error, I have discovered that you can still record using DVD-R only. For all the boasts of DVD /-R and DVD /-RW, it does not work after a certain amount of time. Philips does indeed have the worst customer service I have ever seen in any company out there. Contacting them is a nightmare and pure hell. I do hope that no one ever buys any of their products again and I also hope this little bit of info I posted helps someone.

The phone has a Voice Record feature, but I think it's only for a couple of seconds of audio for the voice dialling feature.
Anyways, go to Menu > Office Tools > Voice Records and press the Voice button, located on the right-side of the flip display.

VHS Recording Tape

not much of a help but sounds like your record head is bad on the vhs heads,

use cleaning tape try that, if that fixes great, if it helps but not fully there, you might have to clean them by hand with very soft paper town and rubbing alcohol rub side to side very easy , if none of the above work you have a bad record head or record board, not worth repair vs cost
good luck
