WASHER DRYER - Hoover Nextra hnwf7148: DRUM DOES'NT GO ROUND

WASHER DRYER - Hoover Nextra hnwf7148:

Works fine apart from the DRUM will NOT go round, therefore does not spin either! ONLY 3 years old. Checked belt and its not that. However at the back on the bottom right hand side there is what looks like a circuit board?! Its has to small rectangle black boxes and 1 of these looks like something has been knocking against it - DRUM!? Not sure

I have had an engineer out to the washer and he said that the board (unsure of the product name) at the back on the lower bottom right hand side needs replacing, as I have overloaded the washer causing a little black box to become slightly bashed and resulting in the problem....However He said I CANNOT replace just the black box I have to replace the FULL BOARD its on!! Costing £150 - The washer has a 8.5kg load and there is only 3 of us in the house - I am just unsure whether he is trying to pull a fast one!!!!!

Many thanks in advance for any help given.

Hi pocket_money,

would it be possible for you to take a snap shot picture via a camera phone, digital camera etc.of this part you're attempting to describe ?

I suspect the little "black box" from the control board you're describing is a relay or some component of the control, but I think if you attached a photo to a reply someone (including myself) here could definitely point you forward.

Thank's for visiting "fixya". I'll watch for your reply. Good luck.

Hi,
Unfortunately the guy you had there is right. The whole board will need to be replaced. The little black box is a relay that is soldered into the board and maybe could be replace if he had access to just that part. But find those parts are very hard and time consuming. It is also time consuming to pull out the board, unsolder the relay and resolder in a new one, will being carefull not to damage the board more...
You are best to just replace the board and then try to either move the board a bit or setupp a protection so that it does not get hit again.

    Hi again,
The best thing to do is to get a fully installed guaranteed to work price from the repair company.
Then check new prices and make your decision.
I did try to search the net for pricing on the part and the model number you gave here is not coming up.
I really don't see you getting it much cheaper online anyway. that looks to be a great price.
I guess that what you do also may depend on whether you have the money to spend on a new one or not also...

There is a motor that moves the drum if the motor is not working then also drum will not rotate.if that is the case you need a new motor.but if motor seems ok.then there is a start up capacitor that makes motor start if that is the case you need a new capacitor for the motor.

If the motor and capacitor are proper and checked ok.then the drum os out of the cabinet the cabinet is out of square allowing the drum to scrape on the rear panel. If it's from the front, you'll need to strip the machine down and fit new bearings.
You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

My hoover model number is hnwf7148. The problem is while washing, after some times the delay start button (red indicator light) will automatically ON and the wash will not complete. The machine will remain...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Because you say the water remains I suspect the draining function is malfunctioning so follow my general guidance notes below. At the bottom is the guidance for obtaining a manual ;-0)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!
------------------------------------------------------
Manual-
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!
