Question about ViewSonic VG150 15" LCD Monitor
Greg_olive, Possible failure of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" power supply called INVERTER CIRCUIT inside of monitor. If "lay on floor" black brick "switch-mode-power-supply" detects fault with CCFL inverter it will go into full or partial "shutdown" mode to try and save itself from having a catastrophic, nonrecoverable failure. e.g. sparks, smoke. fire. A tech will need to investigate it. Your monitor no different than any other CCFL backlit LCD brand in it's basic operating principle!!! Read more of my and other techs FIXYA profiles for more info and options that are open to you as a consumer/user of lcd monitors. Black, or black and blank is you're and thousand's of other users symptom. If pocket is deep enough, take the easy way out! Trade for new! If not, then you will have a lot of reading and surfing to do. Two other very good tech types on fixya have nicknames "budmrtn" and "buddymc" !! Read their stuff also for more info. good luck with repair. 12fixlouie north of Windy City
