Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The idler pulley just clips into the bottom of the dryer and keeps tension on the drum belt. The drum rollers have clips that must be removed from the shafts before trying to replace them. If one wheel is worn out, replace them both less problems later on. See "how to take apart" to access the rollers, once the belt is disconnected from the idler pulley and motor pulley, lift out the drum. The roller on the left has a bracket and 2 clips to remove before the roller can be replaced. The right roller has just 1 clip that must be removed to replace the roller. Use a cloth or fine sand cloth to clean up the shafts, use light oil before installing the new rollers. DO NOT use heavy grease as this will attract dust and become very dirty and gum up the rollers. Check the belt will you are there and clean out any dust from motor and from the drum base.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

    OK but
initially you just asked where to put the roller. However, please follow this
    step-by-step procedure---

    Replacing
the Front Support Rollers and Shafts

    1. Remove
    the front panel.

    2. Reach
underneath drum and behind motor to locate idler pulley. Push idler pulley to

    left to
release drum belt tension. Remove the belt from the motor pulley.

    3. Remove
the drum and belt from the cabinet.

    1--
Prepare for replacing the dryer belt by lifting the lint-screen cover on the
top of the dryer. Then remove the lint screen. Skip this step if your lint
screen is inside the door. Remove the 2 Phillips screws inside the door
    instead.

    2-- After
removing the lint screen, lift the cover and remove the screws that hold the
lint-screen housing to the dryer top.

    3-- Slide
a putty knife between the front panel and the top near a corner. Lift the corner
and repeat on the other side.

    4-- To
remove the lower panel, insert the putty knife between the panel and each side.
    Then twist to release clip.

5-- Place a few wood blocks under the drum.
These support the drum when the front panel is moved away from the sides.

    6--
Loosen the screws that secure the bottom of the front panel to the dryer sides.
Do not completely remove the screws.

    7--
Remove the screws that secure the front panel to the dryer sides at the top.
These are accessed from the inside of the cabinet.

    8-- Lean
the front panel away from the sides and slip the new dryer belt over the drum.
    Then re-secure the front panel.

    9-- Check
that the lip on the back of the dryer drum fits properly against the seal on
the rear bulkhead of the dryer.

    10--
Locate the original position of the old belt, and slip the new belt in place.
Keep the grooved side of the belt down.

    11-- Push
the idler pulley toward the motor and loop the doubled-up belt around the idler
pulley. Slip belt around motor pulley.

    12--
Rotate the drum counterclockwise a few turns to check belt tracking. Then
replace remaining components and test run.

    Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further
    assistance.

    Thanks

    Rylee

As advised earlier the idler pulley just clips into the bottom of the dryer, also please check the procedure on how to replace the belt and you can also check how to take it apart from here. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

How do you replace the drive belt in a kenmore dryer model 88042

Pull the fron off. Remove tub, should have a spring loaded idler pulley next to the motor. Make sure that it is not broke and spins freely. Also check tub support rolers on each side. They shoule spin freely. If ok, put belt around tub, install tu. Put belt around spring loaded pulley. May need a hand holding tub while you install pulley. Put front on. Make sure the fron of cover fits inside the tub seal. Good luck. email me with issues, bobby.crochet@lyondellbasell,com.

Belt broke on Maytag dryer DE410. I purchased a

The squeak may be coming from the drum rollers, check them to see if they need lubrication.
I recommend that you use a good grade of machine oil to lube them such as 3 in One oil. Lube them at the shaft of the roller. Also check the rollers to see if they have flat spots on them, if they do then they will need to be replaced.
Recheck your location of the idler arm bracket with pulley to see that you have it in the right location and that the spring is also in the right location. Look for wear spots on the frame and idler arm and match them up.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Belt broke

Buy a new belt. Insert the idler pulley into the slots under the motor pulley. The wheel should be on the left side of the motor as you face it.
Put the belt around the drum, then through the idler roller. Then over the motor pulley.

You can find an exploded view at Sears Parts Direct, as well as get P/N's for the parts needed. I suspect the roller assembly came apart which caused the belt to fail.

You will need your Model number to locate the exploded view. If you can not figure out the routing from that, then order the service manual from Sears. It will show the routing and describe how to assemble and test most all aspects of the appliance.

How do i put the belt on my dryer

Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way.Get the drum out and oil the rollers and idler. Put the new belt on using the kenmore config pictured here

Kenmore dryer not spinning---how do i disassemble to see if belt or motor is bad?

kenmore dryers are the easiest dryers to work on. unplug! remove 2 screws @lint screen top. insert screrwdriver under top @ each end and pop top up. disconect wires to door panel. remove 2 5/16 screws at each end inside. lift front door panel up and out.( the bottom of the panel is held by spring clips. replace belt if broke. remove drum if not and check rollers. note: belt route at idler pulley.
