Check your air filter. While you are there, make sure there are no error codes blinking on the control board. If you have to open the panel that holds in the door safety switch, it will erase any error code so look for a small viewing port. Once you confirm that there is an error code, find the wiring diagram that is pasted to a furnace panel. On that diagram there should be a diagnostic chart to help you with a starting point where to look for issues.

Furnace starts and ignites and fan comes on but when thermostat is turned off the gas shuts off and flame off but furnace continues to run. whu?? any suggestions?

The fan normally runs for a few minutes or so after the gas shuts off.

This removes the heat from the furnace and transfers it into the living space instead of just letting it possibly cause overheating of the furnace until it dissipates. If it is a fan that blows outside, that fan also needs to run for a few minutes to clear exhaust gasses from the furnace - to keep them from dissipating into your home.

The furnace comes on just briefly then goes off, after a time it will come back on and stay on. Is this normal?

Yes, depending on exactly what you mean by furnace on. Many furnace fans react only when plenum temprature reaches a certain amount.... (helps keep from blowing cold air) The circulation fan can run several times after burner shoutdown, based on the temp....

My heater blows cold air why? I have a REAB 1010s need manual

Check your thermostat to see what your fan switch is set on. There should be two settings - auto and on. If it is set on auto, the fan only comes on when furnace runs. If the switch is set on on, the fan on your furnace is running all the time. Which means when temperature in the house reach what you have set on your thermostat, the furnace kicks off, but the fan keeps running and blows cool air. Some people run their fan all the time, especially if they have allergies, because that's a good way to clean the air.

My heat pump blows cold air for the first 10 minutes or so

Don't know how long you have had a heat pump but thats the nature of them in colder weather. Some people prefer to switch to "emergency heat" on the t-stat when temps fall below 20 or 25 degrees. This bypasses the heat pump and allows your back-up heat to heat the house. If your house is total electric your emergency heat is an electric furnace and it should handle the load if it was sized properly. Don't leave it on emergency when it warms up because your heat pump is much cheaper to operate than the furnace. As always, check your air filter since it can restrict the amount of air that moves thru the furnace, which is critical. Hope this helps

Low heat

if this is a heat pump it should either be low on freon or problem with airflow over outdoorcoil. (like a fan that failed or really dirty coil) PLEASE keep in mind if this is your first year with a heatpump instead of a furnace it does blow air out MUCH colder than a gas furnace or boiler.
Thanks ,
Brian
