Question about Sub-Zero 700TCLH Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Refrigerator Area Warm - Freezer still freezing cold

I have two Sub-Zero units that have been continually problematic since original purchase. I'm afraid I would recommend them.

Currently the Refrigerator section is 55 degrees and the freezer is as cold as usual.

Instantly you can rule out the evaporator as I stated the freezer was "frozen" as cold as usual. The clue is that the refrigerator section was warm. This narrows the problem down to the switches that activate the fan i.e. the two drawer switches and ice maker switch.
If all of those test correctly for continuity then the fan that moves the really cold air to the refrigerator section should be checked. When checking the fan remember it does not operate if the system is running thru a defrost cycle. Most of the time a visual check will work -

1988 sub zero refrigerator's freezer is warm on the top and not making ice

Hi,
Sounds like you have a fan problem around the evaporator in the freezer, it is possible it has failed and won't move air within the freezer section anymore. Cold air drops and heat rises.

Good Luck

Is it normal for warm air to blow out of the fan at the top of a side by side sub zero. Its over 20 years old and we recently had the compressor replaced on the freezer side.

warm air will blow out from the condenser fan which is in the same area as the compressor.
There should be no warm air inside the freezer of fridge.
