I have a Tascam DP-004. I cannot seem to connect to my computer via USB port. I have Windows Vista. I've had my device for a couple months. I had no problems connecting until recently. Windows recognizes that a device is connected but cannot read the contents of the disk. When I double click on the device icon (Drive F on my machine) in Windows Explorer, the message says ''Please insert a disk into Removeable Drive F:''.

Cant transfer the master from tascam to computer

I'm assuming this is a Tascam recorder you're refurring to. What model is it, and what operating system are you using on your computer. First off, don't connect the usb cable to the computer until your Tascam Recorder in in USB Mode. I have the Tascam DP-01. With it, after making the master recording, make sure the master light is off, and not flashing. In the menu under WAVE, select Export Master and press enter. If anything is running, or the master light is lit, you will get an error. After the song is saved to the FAT partition, select DISK in the menu and scroll down to USB Open/Close and press YES/Enter. You'll be asked if you are sure. press Enter/Yes again to go into USB mode. Now plug in the USB cable. Use Windows Explorer, or what ever file navigation program is on your computer. (Not Internet exploere, but windows exploere.) Your Tascam will be seen as Removable Media when viewed from your computer. I have a DP-01, and it shows on my computer as DP-01. You'll find a few folders viewable on your recorder. One of them is called WAVE. You'll find your Exported Master in this folder. Copy it to a folder on your computer. When finished, if you're using windows, then use the Safely Remove Media function in the system tray where the clock is to disconnect from the Tascam safely. Then unplug the USB cable and press NO/Exit on your Tascam recorder to exit USB mode. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day.

Is there a driver for tascam dp-01 for windows7 operating system

Unfortunately no such driver is available, because tascam have discontinued that particular model.

Here is a way to get your recordings off the device

On the Tascam main menu, select "Wave." 2) On the Wave menu, select "Export Master." This saves your mastered song to the correct folder. 3) Connect the Tascam DP-01 to your computer. You will get a message telling you your USB device has malfunctioned. 4) On the Tascam menu, select "Disk." 5) On the Disk menu, select "USB OPN/CLS." Your computer should detect the DP-01 as a hard drive & be visible in "My Computer" on Windows.

TASCAM DP-004 - SD card file access error

Stick the SD card inside your computer, if your computer does not have the hook up for it, Radio shack or Best buy can help you with that. Then you can save the files on your computer, then re-down load them back on your dp 004. But if your card is reading error then maybe you would have problems trying to move them your computer too. Can't Get My Music Off My Tascam. I have a DP-01 portastudio and it has a usb connection but it's not being recognized by my computer. At first it just wasn't compatible with Vista now I have windows xp...

How to export your recorded tracks to WAV:
- Activate the Menu
- Scroll down to WAVE
- Press the right cursor key
- Go to Export Track
- Select the tracks using the Insert and cursor up and/or down keys
- Press Yes/Enter
- When the DP-01 is done repeat pressing Exit until the menu is closed.

Tascam USB mode:
- Press Menu
- Go to Disk
- Scroll down to USB OPN/CLS
- Press Yes/Enter
- Press Enter again to execute
- Press Yes/Enter again for the "Are you sure?" message

Now you will be in USB mode and you will be able to access the DP-01's hard drive and download the exported WAVE file(s).

Remember: the DP-01 will stay in USB mode until you remove the deviceusing the Safely Remove Hardware option in Vista and then press Exit onthe Tascam!

What kind of driver does my tascam dp 01 cd take.

No CD comes with the DP-01. The Tascam relys on your computers USB drivers to work.

You should probably try the DP-01 on someones else's computer first to se if it works there.

This is usually some kind of incompatiblity between the usb cable or the use hub and the usb speed (1.1 or 2.0). I would try bypassing any usb hub you might have in use first. If that doesn't work you might want to try another usb cable.

Good luck.
