Question about Dell 924 All-in-One InkJet Printer

I just had my computer serviced and cleared of virus. Now computer wont activate to communicate with printer. I've already tried everything suggested by the display. Computer has recognised the printer but wont actrivate when asked to print. Says there's no communication from computer to printer

Delete the printer icon from the printer display window and reinstall.

you will need the driver CD that came with the printer if the printer model is not in the Windows printer install list.

You need to do several things to solve the problem. First clear your history, temporary, cache and cookie files. Than Update Adobe Flash, Macromedia Shock-wave and your Browser. Restart your computer each time you finish an update. Do Not try installing more than one update at the same time. as these are all designed to work together. After that Install the latest version of the windows 7 Codec Pack and then the latest version of Direct X 11. After this run windows update and than try to run the Facebook page again.

If it runs after all these updates that would suggest to me that you need to run a full virus scan ASAP. with all other applications closed including windows explorer.

Close all running applications than start a full detailed virus scan. Then press Crtl-Alt-Del and start Task Man click on process and scroll till you find explorer select and press del on keyboard. Close task man and leave computer running for 24 hours.

This will rule out the possibility of any virus or malware contaminants on your computer.
I would suggest doing this because updating your computer alone should not solve the problem, unless the problem was caused by a virus or malware.

After the update you need to go back on to Facebook login reset your account history and reset your account details, next Reactivate your account and resend your activation code this should solve the problem.

My machine shows f 248 error


F248 is communication problem ,it some times happens when the printer cannot understand the data coming from the computer from certain program's or a specific file .reset the printer clear any print jobs on the pc and try print a test page if you're still getting that error you will need to get a service engineer to upgrade to the latest firmwarec

I can't activate my scanner. and i've already lost mu manual for it.

if your printer/scanner came with an installation disc the drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall the printer/scanner restart your computer then reinstall the printer/scanner and its drivers
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options also have option to troubleshoot hope this helps

All my printers cords are plugged in correctly but as i go to print it says that the printer isn't communicating with the computer, I've tried everything that they suggest and nothing seems to work.


uninstal all of the printer software if your down loading drivers from the web download and save to your desk top. disconnect from the web disable your anti virus software and firewall. then run the install from your desktop. follow the same steps if your using a disk anti virus and firewall disabled. alot of these software programs see all in one drivers as virus like activity and wont allow a complete install.

If you have more than one USB hubs try connecting through the other hub. May be this hub is not functioning. It happened with me once.

Computer isn't communicating with my printer


The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

If you haven't already done so, might I suggest you uninstal the printer and re-instal as per the instalation manual.
This normally resolves these issues. Also make sure this printer is set as your default printer.

Message on the monitor is as follows:


If you haven't already done it, the first thing you should do will be to turn off both the computer and the printer, then restart both.

Next, clear out the Print Que. Once the first print job stalls out, it creats a road block that will not let any subsequent print jobs print.

After clearing the print que, got to START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES and find your printer. Right click on your printer then click on Properties. When the properties window opens up, look at the bottom of the General Tab and click on Print Test Page. If the Test Page prints out, try printing from your software program (Word, Excel, Word Perfect, etc).

If the Test Page does not print out, or it does and you still can't print from the software program, then clear the print que again and restart both the computer and the printer again.

I am going to assume that this is either a Parallel Port or USB printer, in which case you might try unplugging the cable (USB or Parallel) from both the printer and the computer, then plugging it back in at both ends.

If that does not work, try replacing the cable and see what happens.

If replacing the cable does not solve the problem, you will most likely need to reinstall the printer, or just the print driver depending on what type of software came with the printer. Once you have reinstalled the printer, try printing a test page again and then printing from your word processor or what-ever.

One of those steps should take care of the problem, if not, then you may have a hardware (or firmware) ware issue, in which case you will more than likely have to have it serviced by PC or Printer Technician. If that is the case, depending on the quality of the printer itself, it might be more cost efficient just to replace the printer.
