TV's screen goes blank but sound continues

I have the Mitsubishi WD-52525 rear projection television and for some reason, after about a half hour to an hour of viewing, the television's picture goes out and the sound continues. How can I go about fixing this?

You will need a can of freeze spray to find the cold solder joint on the main board.Depending on how easy you can access it.Use a mirror to see your screen while you spray the board to localize the area of the problem on the board. Then remove the board and with a magnifying glass or googles find and re-solder the bad spot.Good luck and let me know. -edcarson

A couple of suggestions, if only on cable and using a box disconnect the set and box from power and after several minutes repower and see if a reboot helps.

The two models listed here both should also have a soft reset done with the original remote and the set on---Menu,1,2,3, enter.

Our Mitsubishi WD 52525 goes to blue screen and shuts off.

It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.
