Question about Acer AL2032WD 20" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
When I start up the blue light goes on and the word ACER comes on the screen and then it turns off and then the loop starts. Over and Over
Also I noticed that the green light on the poser pack 18v 4.17 amp also flickers HELP
If you can splice wires, this will fix it. First beat the old Acer power supply to death. (God, that felt good) Then cut the wire off the old brick and splice it onto a laptop power supply that's rated at 18 or 19 volts @ more than 4 amps. Dell uses them and I used one from an HP dv2000 that cooked itself to death. The Monitor runs on less than 3 amps and is quite happy at 18 or 19 volts. By the way, the white wire is positive and the black wire is negative. Don't worry about those four pins on the plug. If you look on the case of the old brick, you'll see that the pinout is quite simple - 1 and 2 are positive, 3 and 4 are negative.

Have had the identical problem with 2 other Acer AL2032w monitors. That is, they will power up, remain on for a short period of time, then shut down. In both cases, the light on the power adapter goes off. I suspected a problem in the monitors themselves, but just for the heck of it replaced the power adapter brick with one from a working monitor, and problem went away on both "bad" monitors. Unfortunately, these adapters are very hard to find. They are a LI SHIN 0219B1875 18V 4.17 amp adapter, with 4 pins in the connector. I have searched high and low for a direct replacement, and while you occasionally find them on ebay, they usually go for $60-$80 plus shipping. If you can track one down, it will likely solve your problem.

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
