Repeated failure to load Windows 7 HP

Foxconn p9657aa-8ekrs2h - 3yrs old - original bios 1.06.53 - intel pentium e6600, 2x 1GB memory. Running XP. Passes w7 suitability test

Repeated failure in loading W 7 HP . Tried on a partition on existing HD . Tried new 1Tb HD, with existing HDs disconnected. Tried bootable copy of dvd. Tried three different optical drives. Tried disconnecting everything except KB, mouse, screen, HD and optical drive.Tried full mem test - no problems reported

Process generally fails with a freeze part way through file expansion stage - not always in the same place. Have twice got right through this stage, but never got through to full installation.

Tried updating BIOS to latest release. Few sweaty hours when update produced errors, and restoring original BIOS also produced errors. Eventually tried loading the second latest version, which had a different flash exe bundled with it. This worked first time. W7 now installed, so this was the problem

Hi.
Foxconn don't have this board on their list of their Windows 7 supported chipsets (which is hardly surprising), but as you state all your individual components should be perfectly OK with Windows 7 .
I suggest you flash the Bios because Foxconn had to produce a new Bios for Vista in order for that OS to run correctly.

Best of luck.

Does dual core processor support Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H mother board

The Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H motherboard has a LGA 775 Socket. It will support Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, and Core 2 Duo processors with an FSB of 1066 (800MHz). Thus is should support the dual core 775 processors. (Some Pentium 4, Pentium D and Celeron D CPUs may also be compatible with the board.)

I hope this helps.

I love ram questions, (not easy)\

my guess is your windows XP virus magnet is stuffed
XP is a dead OS, and has Zero support.
not does HP support it.

so what to do.
well its super easy.
1: boot to a linux live CD or stick
if linux likes it , your XP is hosed, like all are now, hopeless.!

if linux does not like the mem. then you bought the wrong ram.

try to know that BIOS does not get the final call on good mem
all it does really is PnP the spid chip there asking what i is.
and then passes that INFO data to windows.
did you run BIOS memory test? it too is crude,
in the end only a running good windows proves any memory is good. for sure loading a huge photo shop say 5 times.

the new sticks must be 240 pin, DDR2 SDRAM
PC2-3200 MB/sec (minimum)
the must match your CPU,
the Pentium D is old.
and many memory makers do not make ram to fit old CPUs.
2005 PC,a tad old no?
the best place to get it is Kingston or Crucial.
did you? or buy fleabay crapppppp

questions did you run the PC with just 1 , 1GB stick
if that fails and beeps like made the sticks are no good.
then next 1GB stick alone, beeps again, dead pC>
yup wrong DDR2.

the Intel chip you must make happy is the i945p
at its clock rates (called speed)
do look on kingston .com first.
m7350 seem there oldest one. in this line of HP PC.
good luck finding good memory.

wow a very old media center, gen 2 of 14 or so.
HP does not support this quote
HP Media Center m1070n Desktop PC,its RETIRED now

The BIOS does not do that!
what HP, it has full name and model.
the MMC controls this, and is very strict. (mem-managment controller)
the memory you are buying is no good. for YOUR PC.
this is so very common
and worse every year,
ever heard of Crucial or Kingston memory
they can fit up memory for you, it very complex.
not just DMM1, 2,3, but speed, min.
density rules.
chip count rules
chip voltage, 1.3. 1.5 or both or?
Total memory max allowed and PER SOCKET !
and even number of chips per side of stick , rule.
that worst was intel i5 old processors.
those are facts, and only the exact motherboard you have a
and what processor is there, (and if mmc is external to processor that)
matter.

finding data on such and old box.
is not easy but google can dig up bits.
why not ask Kingston? for help,.

key facts are, (besides old)
HP Media Center m1070n Desktop PC
Intel Pentium 4 520 / 2.8 GHz
Intel 915P Express (my guess, mmc is inside here)

good luck finding SDRAM in 2017 that works.

why not find a newer box? (pc) say 2010 or newer.,
they will run better and can buy ram easy
vastly better.... even Goodwill has them for few bucks

Foxconn 945G7MA-8EKRS2 Motherboard will not post with pentium d cpu ,i have even updated with the lates bios flash,

Good day,
According to Intel 945G chipset supports Celeron D up to Core2Duo. Intel Gigabyte's 945 DS3 even supports up to Core2Quad. GByte Foxconn has 3 mobo bios from there site. Foxconn
According to their date: Latest to oldest
4BFF1P56 No Version 4BFF1P40
Have you tried installing the no version bios? In my experience some latest bios have some problems with other devices so try to use the no version bios. or try a different mobo bios with the same chipset from Foxconn. below are two foxconn mobo models i can't see the difference.
945G7MA-8EKRS2 945G7MA-8EKRS2H
Update at your own risk..
