Tascam CD-RW recorder

Tascam CD-RW750 used to record sermons. Records good until about halfway then starts skipping and sounds like echo. Does the same on several cd's

same problem, half way through CD R or CD RW ok, then useless recordings. Service says the whole CD drive must be exchanged. Darn expensive. Only about 100 CDs have been burned. Tascam is no more what it used to be: excellent quality. They are down to the level where the unit stops working very soon after the guarantee runs out.

Open the unit look in the center of the tray you will see something that look like a glass eye, try cleaning it with a q tip. Of that don't work look into buying a pick up

Get a cd lens cleaner. and clean the lens. This is a CD with a small brush on one of the tracks. Usually this will solve your problem.

NOW OPC error my Tascam CD-RW750 Only using a cd-rw

All I can think of is to try other makes of blank discs. Also, if your machine ever comes up 'ERROR' and you have no control of any functions including powering it off or on-remove the plug from the wall and wait about a minute, then plug it back in.

Why Tascam CD-RW750 Error recording?

I don't have experience with your model. I have the 1000 model and I would try a different brand of CD discs. You don't say what error message that you are getting.

Trying to record but when I push the "record"

Get the manual...

Record READY switches the unit into a Monitor mode so you can set your levels for when you finally initiate recording.

It is no longer recording. What can I do to fix or reset this thing?

hi, i got the same problem and found a way to solve it. i used cd-rw´s and the tascam spit them out
with a -disc-error-. i formatted the discs with my cd-burner prog. each cd-rw takes about 15-20 min.
i use burn aware, but nero or any other prog should do the trick. have fun kelly

Tascam cd-rw750 - while recording from another CD player (using digital coax connection), machine records for some time and then just "jumps out of record mode" and goes back to the beginning like nothing...

1. First problem: "like nothing is recorded". IS something recorded or has it been left in Pause Mode so long (instead of Recording) that it just got impatient and time out?

2. Get yourself a couple of CD-RW Digital Audio discs to play with until you're past this learning curve/problem scenario. That way you can always erase them and start over without having to discard the disc.

3. Dropouts on playback. Are they repeatable - always at the same place, even on different CD players? If so, the data is bad on the disc. If not, the data is probably marginal.

4. If you have a DVD player, try to play the failed recordings in it. Some DVD players can play back unfinalized CDR's. You may be able to recover the data by copying it back to the CD Recorder from the DVD player. Just be advised that an unfinalized CD-RW may not have 'silence' following the last recorded track due to old data remaining from a previous session, so be ready to pause or stop the recorder when the last track finishes.

5. "Scratches near the outside of the CD". Were these NOT present prior to entering the CD Recorder? Do they seem to coincide with about where the recording may have failed?

6. 20 vs 19 tracks: Is this a constant problem or only when there is a failure during CD creation? If the latter, it would make sense as the last track in isn't technically completed.

How can I recover a message that wasn't finalized

If you can't finalize it you could put the CD into a DVD player and play it back. You won't be able to manipulate or skip around the CD but it might play back from beginning to end. My Pioneer DV-45A will play unfinalized CD's.
