Question about Ovens

2 Answers

Hi I have a ram program 2000 fan oven, the fan stopped working a short while ago which meant the oven wouldn't work, so I used the grill instead, but now find that recently the grill control knob is getting hot. Have I got several unrelated problems here so that I can tackle them one at a time or is it time to say goodbye to the complete oven. What parts would I need to change to hopefully put my problems right. Your help would be appreciated, Thanks

Thank you for your reply it has given me much to check. The cooker has two ovens the top one is the "grill" oven I think and the bottom one is the main oven, How many temperature probes will there be, and where? How many fan motors and how many heating elements. The model no. is 059042327 the serial no. is 90933368 who makes these ovens do you know I tried the link you sent me for spares but it didn't reconise the model no. Thanks again for you help.

The Ram 2000 is a whirlpool product, and aprts are very hard to find. The Ram model is now considered a trash compactor vs an Oven. It may be time to let it go quite honestly. I know what your thinking...I'm the same way. Take care.

Hi.

To start you need to replace the fan motor.

The fan motor is tested energizing (jumping wires and powering up). If the fan motor works, replace wiring harness after testing contacts on OEC (control).

Along with the fan motor you may need to replace temperature probe.

If the oven is reaching a too high temperature, and the knob is getting very hot, then the temperature probe may be shorted.

A shorted probe is difficult to test, because testing must be done at high temp, the probe will read normally at room (low impedance). The easiest thing to do is replacing it when the oven does not stop at limit temperature.

If the oven does not have all function, and does not bake, test also the heating element.
The lower element is the baking element.
The element is tested disconnecting its wiring, and touching with the multimeter probe its contacts.

If the element read no continuity (infinite Ohms because the circuit is open), then the element must be replaced.

If the Oven had been used at too high temperatures, check also the wiring harness, and the control contacts. Elevate temperature may damage wiring and connector.

To get the parts I would need the complete model number (the one in service tag).

I think this oven model type is APSF/02/WH , built by Wirlpool.

In that case here parts:Next Dimension APSFO/02/WH (854184015010) Parts.

Problem start when i turn Oven only on teka, then the fuses blown up. I can still use grill but whwn I turn to oven fuses go blow up again.

Hi! It seems it is not the heating element! It seems to be before that. Either a short circuit delivering to much current thus causing the blow. I would check the corresponding cable all the way to the circuit and the circuit elements corresponding to the oven element. The grill and oven elements being "independent" explains why grill still works. (A short circuit seems quite possible to me!)

AEG double oven/grill stopped working

It appears the oven has shorted out. Try checking the breaker box and see if any switches have been flipped. If this is not the case a new oven is in order.

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

The fan oven is not heating up. The fan appears to to be operating and the element for the grill heats up . I had the oven element replaced over a year ago.

If the fan is working o/k, but there is no heat, then it is more than likely the element that has failed again.
The fact that you had it replaced a year ago, does not mean tha it will last a long tiime, it is quite common for them to fail in a relatively short space of time.
Take my advice and fit a new element.
Thankyou.

C362e fan oven stopped heating up fan still works top oven, grill and hob still work.. Had same problem about a year ago, but suddenly started working again before i could get help.... ???

If fan is working o/k, then it is more than likely that the oven element is causing the prob, I would fit a new one under the circumstances.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

De Dietrich oven not working!

I suspect that it is the oven lock that needs replacing. I bought a De Deitrich oven (pyroclean) in Sept 2007. The oven failed to heat in Aug 2009. The oven lock needed replacing which meant the unit had to be removed from the wall. It was replaced under guarantee but failed again in June 2010 and was replaced at a cost of €140 by enginneer. I am very dissappoined in the oven and expected to have no problems with it considering the DeDeitrich name. I would not recommend it to a friend. By the way the clock is easy to use if you follow the instructions exactly. Oven used by two careful owners only.

Thermador Oven won't heat after running self-cleaning cycle

SOunds like you need to reset the oven high limit switch. It should be located behind the grille obave the oven opening and below the control panel. There should be about 4-6 screws you need to take out to remove the grille to gain access. Turn the power of to the oven at the circuit breaker, then rech in with a screwdriver and push down on the little red button in the center of the hig limit until it clicks. the high limit should be about as big around as a quarter and have a wire going into one side and out the other. If this keeps tripping, you may have a bad cooling fan. When you run a self clean it should also run a fan to cool the components. You should be able to feel a breeze coming out of the bottom of the oven when the cooling fan (not the convection fan ) is running. If this fan doesnt run, it will trip that switch. Hope this helps!
