OK-3 issues here but you already know one lol-you bought a substandard amp for some bad *** power hungry subs---thats your first issue :)

Check the ground for the AMP it shouldn't be any longer than 12" from the amp to its grounding point-Any longer than that and several issues can happen, like poor power to the amp, feedback (winding noise over the speakers, usually changes pitch or frequency with the engines rpm's), intermitant substandard sound (your experiancing this) and coil bounce (your subs move in and out producing little to no sound, you are experiancing this as well)

The same issues can come from the amp not having enough constant power to sustain the subs when they hit repeditivly, to fix this you need to buy a cap and add it to your system- A cap quickly charges using the battery, and supplies the extra umph your amp needs so it can push the subs without starving itself. With the subs you have I recommend a 1.5 to 3 fared capasator

How to run the speaker wires to connect to the subwoofer? and does a sub woofer burn if you do not put the right ammount of watts to it for example having an kicker l7 connected to a three houndred watt...

i'm guessing you are having problems with the dual voice coil's so I will link you to the kicker wiring guide...

http://kicker.com/sites/default/files/SoloBaricL72006.pdf that has the wiring options, you will need a pdf reader **** as adobe or foxit..

Under powering your subs won't hurt them but running a 15 inch l7 at 300 watts is not going to let the sub perform at peak, I would go with a 800 to 1000 watt amp.

15 inch l7 watt's are as follow

rms = 1000
peak = 2000

Got a 12"kicker L74ohm sub and sony xm-D9001GTR mono amp

Hello juan_penaloz,

The Kicker L7 has an RMS power range of from 50-750 watts and a maximum power handling capability of 1,500 watts so your Sony amp will power it OK. A more powerful monoblock like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Kicker 08ZX750.1 would provide even more power and could operate safely at 2ohms.

You have the voice coils wired properly for the Sony amp. It's OK to have the sub impedance higher, but you definitely do not want it lower than the 4ohms the amp is rated at in bridged mode.

Hope this helps.

What Amp would i need to push three Kicker L7 12's?

Hello,

It depends on the specific subs and exactly what you want out of them. You have practically unlimited choices for amps.

The 10" L7 has a power range of from 30-600 watts RMS, the 12" from 50-750 watts, and the 15" from 100-1000 watts.

So if you have the 10's, you would want an amp that puts out at least 90 watts RMS and not more that 1,800. Unless you are really into SPL and have an unlimited budget, it's probably best to go somewhere in between.

Keep in mind that these Kickers need to be in a proper enclosure. They like a little more volume to work as compared to RF's or MTX's and some others.

My L7 won't hit.

unfortunately chances are it is a bad sub. but I would hook it up to someone elses amp and then see if it works. Use same power or less for test. If it dont work then I hope you have a warrenty.

Kicker sub wont work

Im guessing that it is possibly blown... either you ran too much power to it, or it was hooked up wrong... you should unscrew the sub from the box and look inside to make sure that it is connected correctly.... positive to positive, negative to negative,,, if they so much as touched then the L7 could very well be blown.... smell the magnet and if you smell a burnt smell... it is blown... maybe turn your amp down a little... its possible that it is also in protect mode because you are running too many watts to the amp. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.... Please rate! :D And good luck... i really hope its not burnt out. that stuff is not cheap.

How to order

The L7 I have is brand new in the box (not a speaker box just the retail packaging box) and the rms is 750 watts RMS and 1500 watts peak, but you are correct they blow easy when you push rated power to them, the hifonics subs will take 1200 watts rms all day long and over 3500 peak for burping at competitions, i run mine at 2000 watts everyday in a daily driver. if you hook 1 dual 4 ohm sub to a zx1000.1 it will be 2 ohm load on the amp so you will get 1000 watts to the sub so if you want to run it slightly underpowered to keep it from blowing use the 750.1 per sub, i can do those at about 250 each shipped

the price is 150 plus 10$ flat rate USPS shipping and yes I accept paypal Wyattconnolly@msn.com .

the warranty starts the day you buy it for 12 months but kicker will not cover burned or blown voice coils, that is why i recommended the hifonics (which is what i use to compete with now) because they put out better quality sound and alot more of it and they will take alot of abuse, if you want boxed speakers ready to go in kicker brand ported boxes I can have them drop shipped right to your door as well, the only reason i am selling the 1 L7 i have so cheap is because a customer ordered it then never paid for it so I am selling it at cost. be careful if you are buying on ebay as you have no warranty at all and you cant force the seller to give you 1 even if they say it has 1. because authorized dealers are not allowed to do internet sales at all so kicker and most other companies will not honor the warranties.

also you dont need 2 amps you can use 1 bigger amp and still run 2 subs just by changing how you wire the subs at the amp. 1 large amp costs less than 2 smaller 1's usually just not with kicker brand

Wiring

provided that the memphis studio series is still 1 ohm stable you would wire each coil of each speaker like this : posive to positive negative to negetive on the speaker using 2 jumper wires then run 1 coil from each subs positive and negative the input on the amp that amp would see a 1 ohm load from both speakers as each speaker would become a 2 ohm load. from experience, memphis does not make an amplifier that is brutal enough on power for L7 15" solos, i have the st 1600 d amp running only 2 dual 4 ohm 10 L5's and it is barely enough power for them. For less money than your 2 subs cost retail I can get you brand new matching 2000 watt true competition rated and proven 1 ohm power and 2 subs that would physically fit in your current box, i would however recommend a very very large box for 2 15" squares. you can email me at sicaudio@msn.com , my advice and system designs are always free even if you do not buy thru me. I am usually 1/3 to 1/2 what retail is with full warranties and i can drop ship anywhere in the U.S.A.
