Is this the 2 wire valve on the furnace, if so i'm pretty sure it's a 24 volt setup, check on valve it should say, there will be a 24 transformer, the valve or relay and a thermostat, one wire from 24 volt side of transformer to valve, other wire from transformer goes to R on thermostat, other wire W from thermostat returns to connect to other terminal on valve or relay if it's forced air, sure hope this helps

Why does my furance not turn on when the pilot lite is lit?

Apparently it is not calling for heat. The thermostat needs to close. If it is wired correctly and the stat closes and it still does not start something is bad in the control section. You need to get a tech to help you. Randomly jumping wires is asking for a disaster.

My totaline thermostat model #p474-0100-a the backlight is staying on and when the furance is running after only a couple of minutes it shuts off and my furance shuts down .

Multiple issues that are not related. If the pilot light goes out then the thermocouple might be bad. If the pilot ignites the gas and everything shuts off, it sounds like the over temperature sensors are detecting heat in excess of what is allowed in the firebox. The thermostat issue has nothing to do with this.

Can not operate the furance, it just wont come on

Sounds like more is wrong than the thermostat. If gas heat, make sure the pilot light is lit and there is gas pressure. If fuel oil,you may have to press the restart button on the burner unit. or blead the the pump.

AC IS TURNING ON BY IT SELF AFTER I SWITICH IT OFF, HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM

Sounds like a problem with the furances circuit board. With the furance powered off, disconnect the two wires at the circuit boards thermostat terminal strip. These are probably red and white wires connected to the "Y" and "C" thermostat terminal strip on the circuit board. These two wires send 24 volts to the outside A.C. condenser unit when the thermstat is se tinto the cooling mode. With the thermostst in the "off: postion measure across the "Y" & "C" terminals at the furances thermostat terminal strip. If you have voltaged than either the board or thermostst has failed. The next step to determine which has failed is this. Disconnect all the thermostat wires at the furance. To check the heating circuit jumper across the "R" & "W" terminals, the furance should fire off for the heating circuit and run non stop beacause the thermostat is no longer controlling it and is isolated from the furance. Now remove the jumper and jumper across the "R" &"Y" terminals, the blower should run at your furance for the cooling mode and you should have 24 volts across the "Y" & "C" terminals for the outside A.C. condenser compresor contactor.Next check for blower operation by jumpering across the "R" & "G" terminals. If everything checks outs than the thermostst is the problem. Tou may also want to check the control wiring at the thermostts , furance & out side condenser unit. If the wiring has connnected somewhwre between these points or at the terminal connection this may also be bring on the A.C. when the thermostat is in the "off position.

I have a Rheem heat pump and a Honeywell thermostat. I let my air filters get too dirty, and they restricted the air flow so the system shut off. I have replaced the air filters but the upstairs doesn't...

You may need to replace the furances high limit switch. This is located abvove the burrners with the top frot door off. It has two wires going into it. The furance probably was cycling on this switch which automatically resets it self. The thermal dics wears out and starts to trip at lower temperatures. You can temporally jump across the switch and check the furances opreration but do not leave this switch jumperd because it is a safty.

Unless we set the thermostat very high, like 80 degrees, the heater will blow cold air. When the heat does blow, it will eventually stop blowing heat and the fan will continue to blow cold air.

Check and make sure the filter is clean. This sounds like a restriction in the system. If the unit has central cooling make sure ther indoor evaporator coil is clean at the furance. The unit may be cycling the burners on and off at the high heat limit , fan/limit control. You can also eliminate the thermostst from the furance. Turn power off at the furnace and disconnect the wiring from the thermostat. Jumper the red and white wire together. Turn the furnace back on. The furance should run in the heating mode. Try this and see if the problem is still there.

Just installed a goodman furnance and a/c, there is a blinking light on furance control panel, and the furance motor runs constantly even with the theromostat wire disconnected. thanks for any help

the thermostat wire that you connected to the circuit board is only too long and touching anouther terminal or the insulation on the green wire is bad or last but hardly ever, the fan circuit board is stuck ,which the factory test the systems before shipping out, so the problem is HUMAN ERROR on your part. Thanks, from koolbreezes!

Furance won't lite

The first thing i would do is turn thermostat down and turn power off wait for a few minutes then turn power back on and then thermostat back up. If it has a ignition module then there should be a blower motor. It should come on then a pressure switch that should click then the ignitor should glow or spark. there should be a round glass circle that you can look through to see the ignitor
