Hmmm, it seems I too had this problem. If I remeber correctly you have to make sure there is no sims content on your hard drive. If you go to START>MY COMPUTER> PROGRAM FILES>MAXIS or EA. delete that file and try to install the game again.
Be sure to save any custom content to a data cd-r before deleting all the files from your hard drive or you will lose them forever. But the idea is to remove ALL sims files from your computer then you should be able to install the game again.

There's always, do a complete reinstall. Some software will ask for uninstall-install-repair.Hit repair if available. You have the disk, the reinstall is probably your only option.

Please help me! my EP`s could`nt merge!

The Sims has to be installed in the order of which they were released for best results. My family tried to install them in different orders on different computers so we could all play all the expansions using different disks without all haveing to buy the expansions. However, EA had foreseen this and the Sims can only be installed in order as follows.
  • "The Sims" or "The Sims Deluxe" or "The Sims Mega Deluxe"
  • "Living Large"
  • "House Party"
  • "Hot Date"
  • "Vacation"
  • "Unleashed"
  • "Superstar"
  • "Makin' Magic

Tried switching to neighborhood 2 and the screen freezes. Can't even quit the game without using task manager. Have to uninstall and reinstall to play.

You should go to The Sims website, they have technical support and a lot of user created sites with chat rooms. Also there are downloads for each expansion pack from The Sims. It is also a good idea to play the Sims with your internet connection offline, and any backdround programs turned off.

The Sims Unleashed/Superstar/Makin' Magic Installation Problem

This error means that the data is corrupt, if you get it from Valve or via some other download try to download it again, if you have it on a cd/dvd than give it a try with this.
The worst case scenario is that your system memory is faulty, you can try to figure that out the easiest way by downloading some l linux live and choose memtest utility from it's boot menu and let it run through your memory a few times.
SLAX is a very small one, only 200Mb, but it's perfect for the job, just set boot from cd first in your bios and start the computer wit this cd.

You'll see something like there's a problem with your memory:
