You are absolutely right, your laptop OS got corrupted and need to repair the same using recovery CD or by pressing access thinkpad key which is on the top left of the keyboaed, which is blue in color. After pressing the key ,select restore option to restore your OS.

2nd Option: If you have the OS CD, boot with that CD and go through the process and select repair option to repair your system files.

For that you need windows disk or recovery disk.
Boot your computer with that disk
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set frist boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
Then save settings and exit bios.
Insert windows disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then it boot with that disk. Then you get this message "Press any key to boot from cd.."
Then press any key.
Then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
Then type "y"
Then it fix error on hard drive.
Then check if again you are not able to enter in windows then boot again and this time choose "R" option for repair previous windwos " then it repairs old windows then it loads again old windows.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Try this, it usually corrects the problem. Remove the power cord, remove the battery, press and hold power button for 10 full seconds. Wait a minute more, then put it back together and try again.
This usually helps. If for some reason it didn't, then you either have a faulty memory chip which is common, or corrupt hard drive. but chances are the bad chip. You can try just removing one and see if it makes a difference.

You can get recovery disc from Microsoft.

If you want a program to wipe you HD clean, then you will want to look for a program called Linux System Rescue which will do exactly that.
It is compatible with all OS's and all computers.

My Dell won't boot up at all. Tried booting up in safe mode and everything. Nothing seems to work.

Press F8 the moment you see Dell logo screen and select Last Known Good Configuration. If it still doesn't boot to windows, your operating system might be corrupted and needs reinstallation.

Dell systems has an Image Restore options. In Vista, press F8 on the Dell Logo Screen and select repair your computer. If you're running on XP, Press Ctrl+F11 to boot from the Factory Image Restore partition. Follow the instructions carefully to restore system back to factory image.

Hp pavilion freezes at startup

Will it start in SAFE mode? Reboot and press F8 before Windows loads. This will give a small menu about different SAFE modes and Normal mode. Select SAFE mode and allow system to start. If the system starts fine then you have corrupted drivers and/or a virus which is corrupting your drivers. Download AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe and run these. Now goto START, Run and type SFC/scannow and have your original disks handy because any corrupted drivers will have to be replaced. Now try to reboot into NORMAL mode. If OK you're done. If not OK or even in SAFE mode all you see is the cursor then the laptop needs to go to a reputable repair person or check my website www.micromendllc.com

The error code BI0HD-4 is a hard disk error. You need to delete all partitions on your hard disk and create new ones and format them
This will solve the problem.

Good luck and have a great day!

When I turn my notebook on, it freezes at the Windows XP start up screen. How do I fix this?

If it freezes on start up screen means some kinda driver usually is locking it. To check and see is it driver or Master Boot Record being corrupted try to boot in safe mode. To boot in safe mode shut down the laptop and press power to turn it on and right away start tapping key F8 untill advanced start up screen comes up and then choose safe mode. Once in safe mode if it works check your drivers in device manager and also check for viruses and spyware. If it does not allow you to boot in safe mode you might have to run recovery from a CD but this is little complicated if you dont want to loose all the data but it is still possibility. I would try safe mode and if still issues i would get it to repair shop. Hope this helps.

POWERS UP BUT THEN FREEZES AFTER ABOUT 4 MINUTES

Need to test and isolate where it exactly freezes? After dell logo, after windows logo or while inside windows? Now, if it only freezes inside windows try to turn off your windows updates and antivirus first and check if still freezes, if yes then try booting in safe mode, reboot system then keep tapping on f8 once dell logo appears. Check if laptop keeps freezing in safe mode. Please let me know.

Have you tried booting into safe mode? If not, hit F8 at startup (before the Windows logo) and see if safe mode works. If you can get into safe mode and not normal mode, you have either a) driver problem or b) Windows corruption

If that is the case, you can remove your drivers from your device manager (video and audio drivers are the biggest culprits) and try booting normally again. If the drivers are the problem, windows will boot and try to load drivers for the devices that you removed.

If you end up removing all devices and Windows still won't boot, you either have spyware or viruses on your system ... or Windows is so corrupted that you will need to reinstall.

Be aware that if you have bugs in your system, a simple "Windows repair" might not work. You can try it, but just be aware. Worst case scenario, boot into safe mode again, back up your files to a flash drive, external drive or another partition, then reinstall Windows "clean", which will wipe the C drive and reload a clean install with no bugs and no problems :)

Good luck - hope it helps!

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes

basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor

After installing XP driver Computer dont boot after showing the windows logo. Monitor goes to black screen like standby mode. I tried various version of driver for this card. but it does not work. But...

I sound like the the driver corrupted some of your system files. Can you boot into safe mode and perform a system restore to before you installed the driver. If that works make sure you download the newest drivers from the nvidia website.
