Windows 7 64 bit driver

Your CanoScan LiDE is compatible with Windows 7 (32 Bit and 64 Bit) just make sure you install the correct driver for each system. If your system is a 32 Bit then you will need to download that driver and vice versa for the 64 Bit. See link below for drivers.

the flat bed scanner will not work properly because the driver you have is for windows xp, you have to download the driver for that scanner which support windows 7, got to the website of cannon and find your device and driver supported with windows 7, plug in you scanner and make full update your system and windows will update the driver of your scanner.

Do you have the 32-bit OS or the 64-bit OS? The Canon drivers will work in 32-bit Win7. However, Canon doesn't support these scanners in the 64-bit OS. The only way to make the scanner work in the 64-bit OS is to run either a dual boot system or a virtual computer with a supported OS. The Vista x64 bit driver doesn't work even if you use the compatibility mode.

If you have Win7 Ultimate, you can download Microsoft's Virtual PC and the XP mode for free. All other virtualization software options (Virtual PC, Parallels, VMWare) require a paid (licensed) version of the OS. Then install the scanner in the virtual computer and transfer files to external media to share it with the main computer. Dual boot systems have the same restriction of needing a valid OS.

I'm not aware of any Canon drivers for this scanner under UNIX.

I'm not sure if this will work on the lide 20. I have an lide 35, and there are no 64 bit drivers for it. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the lide 60, told the computer to manually find the lide 60 drivers for my scanner, and installed the canoscan toolbox for vista 64 bit. Works like a champ.

Select your operating system and download the driver "TWAIN Driver - LiDE 20 Scanner Driver Ver. 7.0.3.1a_xp" and then download the software "Canoscan toolbox" ...here is the link:

This is going to be a problem with Vista 64 since all the drivers before were 32 bit. There have been plenty of warnings out there about it.

Unless you can adapt the 32 bit driver to the hardware or wait and see if Canon will support it, thats going to be the situation.

I remember seeing the same thing when we were switching from 16 bit drivers to 32 bit drivers years ago. I don't miss those days.
