Please can anyone tell me the maufacturers site for Ontel Dect phones. I need to change the pre recorded message on the answer unit. I misplaced the manual. Was hoping I could download it from their site. Don't really want to pay for one unless I really have to.

Which Uniden phone do you have? for some models, you access the Answering System menu from the base; on others, you need to be holding the handset. The generic steps are below.
On the appropriate part of the unit, make sure that the phone system is in standby (no active calls on any handset). Then press Menu. Use the arrow keys to find the line for Answering System. Press OK. Navigate to a line about Greeting and press OK. You should see (and select a line) for Recording message. You'll be prompted to ensure that you want to record a new message. If you are using the handset, hold the unit about 6" away from your head. After confirming that you wish to record a new message, speak your new message clearly. When you are done, press End. The unit will cut off the recording if your message was too long. Make sure to save the message. Then go back up in the Menu system and look for a line for "Play back Greeting". If the message isn't clear, start over.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of the phone for specifics for your manual. Some DECT phone manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com.au/australia/cs_operating_manuals_phones.asp .

The "A" indicates announce mode, where the system plays an outgoing announcement but does not record incoming messages. You need to switch it to the record mode, where it will record incoming messages. Unfortunately, since you declined to specify the model of your VTech DECT 6.0 system, I cannot tell you how to do this. I can only direct you to enter the model number into the search box here to download a copy of the manual.
Recording a Personal Greeting Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.” You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.
Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play themessages unless it has no messages.
Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that thesystem is in the command waiting mode.
Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, “Record greeting.” Begin recording after the announcement.
When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recordedgreeting plays back for you.
Selecting a Greeting Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.
Press the /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.
Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.
