Yes ,if have the tools and patient then almost all things are possible. Do bother with those fix your self kits all
tell you how to do it right hear for free.
I'll try to make this the abreveated conservative
x clamp description. Strip the unit down to the P.C.
board , be careful not to grab the large heat sink when
handling. Remove the smaller heat sinks X clamp
remove the heatsink from the board . Clean off the
top of the G.P.U. and the satellite buffer chip next to it.
Clean the heat sink and remove the four studs . Put a half a pea sized blob of articsilver 5 on the G.P.U and
half as much on the smaller one , now get 4 10-32 by 3/8 long panhead phlips screws, now line up
the heatsink holes and ease down on the chips as your
holding the board up right and level . Now thread the
4 10-32 screws just finger tight , flip the board upside
down and torque the screw crisscross ,and evenly
not to tight , Now reassemble start with the board
into the chassis now plug in the fan but leave it
hanging out .next the drive plug it in and place it
back in the unit . now plug in the power button in
front. Plug in the power chord and auido/video cable.Grab the fan and hold half of it over the large
heatsink . Ready to cycle . TURN THE UNIT ON.
the fan should ramp up to full speed over the next
5 min on average then it will run another 4-5
min at full speed after witch you'll get two red lights
UNPLUG THE POWER. wait 10 min reassemble and
plug in and Enjoy .you'll get 2-3 months on average
some time's more. well that's It.
