SOURCE: all files in c drive got deleted
I would suggest first you DO NOTHING on the laptop. Depending how important they are you could overwrite them while using the machine.
As for data recovery, stellar pheonix has a free trial. I suggest you use that.
Shoot me an e-mail and i can help you get this fixed.

you can try taking the hard drive out, connecting it to a usb to sata/ide cable and retrive the files. the other thing you can try is -Check Disc-
Open My Computer, right click on your Hard drive, select properties, the click on Tools, The select Error Checking, click to fix errors automatically, and automatically recover bad sectors..
you will have to restart computer, then it will run check disk...

There is no reason why this should happen when removing a program or software.
Have you tried a system restore?
It doesn't normally retrieve missing files but as it is files specifically related to a program it may work.
Backup everything you want first, e.g copy my documents etc to an external drive
Start --> All programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore
Click Restore my computer to an earlier date
Select a date in bold before the date when you removed the software
Click Next , next
Leave the pc to restore, power plugged in
You can always undo this restore later
If problems, please post results and I will help
Error messages etc.

SOURCE: Hello CyberGuru
Hello my friend, 6 months ago i have a client with same problem in you, his folder option is missing also. The reason is that his system is infected with a virus particulatly a brontok script. This script it automatically disabled your ctr+alt Del function when you press it and it hides also the Folder options and forbids you to enter control panel. So i got automatically installed Kaspersky 9.0 or Trendmicro antivirus and eventually updated it and then after it finished its update i automatically scan the entire system and eliminate the treat coz by a virus. Luckily the virus got wipe out and i don't need to reformat the computer.
In line eoth your problem my friend, i suggest that try to install antivirus either the one i mention above or update your antivirus if you have already installed it then scan the entire system. If the problem is still the same then kindly reformat your computer or find someone like a computer technician or someone who has knowledge about reformatting a computer in your place and let that person do it for you.
Hope this solution and suggestion helps your problem solved. If you seek more assistance just reply to this post. If you find this solution or suggestion very helpful then please rate this solution i post. Thank you so much...
