My Thinkpad X60 just stopped working today. I installed some new ram and when I turned it on the screen was just white and nothing else happened. I put the old ram back in but the same thing happened, just a white screen.

IBM X60 laptop won't start

It really does sound like a hardware problem, perhaps a motherboard/processor/memory issue. If there is no beeping but just humming that is just the fan and drives kicking up.

I would recommend you take it into a repair shop and have them diagnose the issue.

It is possible that the driver is not installed correctly, or not even installed at all. What you can try, is to go to manufacturers web site, and download the driver needed for it, and install it

I put new harddrive in lenovo x60 while ruuning setting for xp installation .set up loading file then setup is starting window i receive following messege stop : 0x0000007B

I think 7b stopcode is hardware failure. Which means your hard drive is bad.

First I would try getting into your BIOS,(pressing F2 or DELETE or something upon turning your PC on) and finding a setting that says "SATA operation".... i think. You are looking for something that gives you 2 choices... either 'AHCI' or 'ATA'. It may not be called SATA operation, but it will definitely say 'AHCI' and 'ATA' as the two choices. Move the selection to whatever one it is not set on. Then try booting normally, or even re-installing again.

Try that BIOS setting first, that may be the only issue.

Good Luck.

Lenovo X60 laptop display has stopped working

The backlight is broken. These are small flourescent tube lights about the width of a pencil lead. You dropped the laptop and the bulb broke. It will have to be replaced. The driver has nothing to do with your problem, reinstalling it will not get your picture back.

Problem installing ram

You have the wrong memory chip. The beep code you hear indicates that there is no memory or incompatible memory. The memory you need is PC4200, Which is a 533mhz chip. Memory has a frequency rating that is matched to the processor and motherboard. Not just any DDR 200 pin memory that fits will work, the frequency has to match or it won't work. The new chip should be labeled, make sure it reads PC4200 or 533mhz, if it reads anything else it's the wrong chip. If it is the right frequency chip, then you may have a bad memory slot, the chip is bad, or mislabeled. Here's a link to a memory configurator that gives the memory specs for your machine.

Thinkpad tablet pen problem

It could be a problem with the pen but I am not positive. I knew someone who had a problem a little different from this but involving the pen not working how it should. They called the company they got the laptop from (Gateway in their case) and they were sent a new pen for free. Lenovo might do that if it's under warranty or you could buy a new pen. It could be a problem with the drivers, though, in which case I am not entirely sure what to do. Maybe reinstall?
