My dishwasher will not drain. I checked all the hoses for clogs. I had one that had a bunch of junk, but even after cleaning it, it still would not drain. It's like it does not even want to try to drain when it reaches that stage. What do I look for?

You need to check the power connection to the pump
make sure it is connected properly
you should also remove the pump and check for any foreign objects that maybe stopping the impellar wheel.
you can use a wet dry shop vac and attach it to the end of the drain hose that is attached to the sink or garbage disposal.do this when there is water in the unit if the water comes out quick then there may not be a restriction if it does not come out quick there is a restriction.you may need to replace the drain pump if all other options check out to be ok

First, check the basket that collects junk at the bottom. Another likely problem is a clogged line to the drain that usually plugs into the garbage disposer. You may try to disconnect that hose and plumb it with a coathanger or the like or hook it up to a shopvac to break the clog free.

Our sink and garbage disposal was clogged up. We got the sink unclogged, but the dishwasher had dirty water in the bottom and won't drain.

Your dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. It you tried to use a plunger to clear your clogged sink or run the disposal with to much junk in it you may have force debris into the dishwasher drain hose. With both the dishwasher and garbage disposal disconnect from power disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal. This is usually about a one inch black hose. Clear out any debris in the hose and inlet nipple on the garbage disposal. If debris is compacted far down the hose it will need to be disconnected from the dishwasher end and remove to clear the blockage.

Good luck!

My Whirlpool Dishwasher, model # DU810SWKU0, is not draining.

Check for any line out put clogs. Undo the line that normally goes up to your sink or garbage disposal and undo the hose, use a shop vac and reverse hose to blow air instead of **** and try blowing out hose to see if junk comes out if this don't work most likely your dishwasher pump has gone out.

My portable GE dishwasher is clogged and wont drain

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Dishwasher is not draining

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee
