“To install, and Update Hardware, click to open “Computer” from the “Desktop”, check to see if there is a DVD-RW Drive (D :).
I. Look in the “Device with Removable Storage area,” see if the device is present, if so? Do the following: to “setup” the ('player') for “Installation.”
II. Right click on (DVD) “Media Player” select (“Install”) follow all instructions thereafter.
III. If the area is (Blank?), “go to,” and 'click' on the "Start button" click all “Programs” scroll for a Media Disk Player”, open, and do the (“same as above”) for the installation. *Note: “Do the same for “Setup” (above) “Install.”

Your hard drive might have stopped working or the boot partition could have been taken out by a virus or trojan. If you can hear the harddrive turn on or see the harddrive activity light flashing it might not be broken. When you turn your laptop on you can put it into the setup by pressing the delete key or F10 ( usually sas hit a certain key to enter set up when you first turn it on). If you get it into set up you will see a list of devices. If there is nothing listed in the hard drive position than chances are your hard drive is fried. It should not cost you more tha $20 to have a computer tech check it out for you. Good luck

Go into the bios and see if you can get the bios to "see" the hard drive by entering the basic fist section on the bios election screen. every computer and laptop manuf. is different on how to enter the bios setup. once in you can look or have the computer "auto detect" the hard drive if it still does not see it then the hd is most likely broken and you can replce it with a new one. if it sees the hard drive then we may be dealing with a virus. using your recovery disks may reinstall the os and get you back up and running.
let me know what works.

Hard drive cannot detect

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

There are two possibilities, damaged memory and hard drive not detected or damaged. Most likely is, the hard drive is not detected or damaged. The characteristics of the hard drive is damaged, when you turn on your laptop, you are like the sound of this

To be sure, the hard drive is in trouble, press F2 to enter BIOS, check your hard drive, or check the hard drive is detected or not.

If the hard drive is not detected and didn't sound the hard drive is damaged (like in the video), the hard drive can be repaired and the data can be saved. Solution: take it to the Service Center.

If the hard drive is not detected and the sound of damaged hard drives, optical damage your hard drive. Solution: replace the hard drive.

No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key acer aspire 5741g. Then I turn on my acer aspire 5741g . This is my problem. Can you help me ?

The notebook cannot detect the hard disk when you turn on the notebook.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Could not proceed to boot

To check your hard disk drive if its detected, turn on your computer and press DEL or F2 to enter BIOS setup. Then go to standard cmos setup and there should be the hard drive detected as Primary or Secondary IDE or SATA. If detected and not loading into windows that case your operating system is corrupted. However If your hard drive is not detected on your bios, turn off your computer and unplug and plug your hard disk drive then turn on your computer start pressing again DEL or F2 then check again your hard drive if it is detected.

If your hard disk drive and cd/dvd rom drive are the same cable you can switch the cable to check if the cable of the hard drive are ok. After you have checked and you found out that the two cables are ok that means you will have to format your computer. But you must backup all your data and files before doing so. Formatting your computer will erase or delete the entire space of the partition which you perform formatting.

Here is the video tutorial on how to format your computer using windows xp

Have a nice day.

Windows wont start. dont know how it happened.

press F2 to go to the system setup, then press arrow down to highlight Standard CMOS feature, then press enter. Verify if the hard drive is detected, mostly it is installed in SATA 0 and you should see like a serial no of the Hard drive. If the hard drive is not detected, you might need to reseat the cables of the hard drive inside the computer. Make sure that all the cables at the back of computer is unplugged to be safe. After you reseat the hard drive cable, plug cables at the back of the computer then turn on computer and press F2, verify if the hard drive is detected, if still not, try to swap the connection of the hard drive and the dvd drive of the computer. Plug back the cables and turn on comp and press again F2, this time the the dvd drive should be on the SATA 0 and hard drive should be on the oter SATA port. If the hard drive is still not detected, you need to replace the hard drive, but if the hard drive is detected on the other SATA port and the dvd drive is not detected on SATA 0 then you need to replace the mother board.

I have a constant flashing green light and computer wont detect it

First, try connecting the external drive to another computer. If the second computer fails to detect it, chances are that the housing or, the drive inside have failed. Determining this requires a basic knowledge of external drives. If however the drive is rckognized the the second computer, turn off the first computer and strt it up again (not restart). Then plug your external drive to a usb port directly (not to a hub) and, it should be detected.

When i put it on, it gives the message operating system not found,

Try this. Turn on the computer. While booting, enter the bios setup and check if your hard drive is detected by the motherboard. If not, turn off the computer and refresh the connections of the cable from hard drive to Motherboard (both ends) and power plug on the hard drive. Then turn on the computer again and check if the hard drive is detected. If detected, check the boot device priority. The OS hard drive should be on the first boot. Save your settings (press f10) and enter. Hope this helps.

Hard drive not detected

this sounds like a classic case of hardware failure, try taking the hard out and putting back in again, also check in the bios to see if the hard drive has been detected. if you get the same result the hard drive has failed and you will need another one
