Question about Computers & Internet
Hi, I Have Fixed Some Of These Power Supply & Mother Board Problems Before. You Can Take The Power Supply Or Computer Apart & Look At The Circuit Board Inside & Take A Look At The Capacitors, The Tall Cylindericle Looking Things, They Could Be Black Or Blue. There Are Numbers Written On Them, That Is The Number You Will Use To Order New Ones. Are The Tops Swelled Up & Split? If So, You May Be Able To Go To Radio Shack Or Order The Caps On Line Fairly Cheap. I'm Not Saying This Will Definitely Fix It, But I Have Repaired Some Mother Boards & Power Supplies By Doing This Simple Repair. I Know The Dell GX260 Were Notorious For This. As Long As You Have A Little Time On Your Hands & It's Not A Lot Of Money Why Not Try It, You May Learn Something Along The Way. Good Luck!

The power supply has probably caused or been caused by the problem that is there now, I'd say your MB is kaput, & needs replacement.

Windows provides the following
plans to help you manage your computer's power:
Balanced. Offers full
performance when you need it and saves power during periods of inactivity. This
is the best power plan for most people.
Power saver. Saves power by
reducing system performance and screen brightness. This plan can help laptop
users get the most from a single battery charge.
High performance. Maximizes
screen brightness and might increase the computer's performance in some
circumstances. This plan uses a lot more energy and will reduce the amount of
time that a laptop battery lasts between charges.
High performance doesn't appear on the battery meter by default.
To turn on High performance, open Power Options by clicking the Start button , and then
clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type power options, and then click Power
Options. Under Select a power plan, click Show additional plans, and then click High
If these plans don't suit your needs, you can create your own power plan, using one of these plans as a starting point.
