Question about IOGear GCS632U 2-port KVM Switch

3 Answers

My IOGear 2 port KVM switch USED to switch between my two computers when the "scroll lock" was tapped twice. Now it doesn't work. What do I do to fix this. The key board & mouse both work when directly hooked up. Thanks!

I had the keyboard and mouse USB's in the wrong ports on the KVM switch. Mouse works in both, but keyboard only in one. Maybe??

It seems odd but this is it. Only one of the USB ports will accept toggle commands from the keyboard. On mine, it's the right-hand one. If the keyboard is plugged into the left-hand one, I can still type but can't address the KVM with commands to toggle, etc.

Related to Robinson's solution, if you're using a Logitech wireless kbd/mouse only one of the ports will allow switching.

Perhaps you must assign those keys in setup?

I am looking for the hotkey combination for our HP 336044-b21 KVM switch from a iogear KVM?

IOGEAR KVM switches uses Scroll Lock for the hot key. The models of IOGEAR KVM switches starts the letters "GCS". I don't think that your HP 336044-b21 came from IOGEAR.

Anyway, if that's an IOGEAR KVM switch, you may quickly press Scroll Lock twice + Enter (for two port KVM).

Scroll Lock twice + port # + Enter (for 4 port, or 8 port KVM).

NOTE: You need to verify the brand of your KVM switch by referring to the user manual of it.

Thank you and good luck!

AN IT person set up my computer so that I could switch back and forth between the old and new computer (Win 7). I click "Menu", Click the > arrow 6 times to select the appropriate bos, I then select...

On that model of KVM switch, making sure Both computers are on, you should only have to hit the "Scroll Lock" key twice, then hit the up arrow to switch between computers. like "tap-tap" on Scroll Lock key then "tap" on the up arrow key. See if that works.

How to daisy chain iogear 8-port miniview

GCS78 can be daisy chained up to 3 levels only.

Let's say you will start with two levels. KVM1 and KVM2.

The ports 1 to 7 of KVM1 should be available for computers, but the port 8 of your GCS78 is for your KVM2.

The port 1 of your KVM2 should be connected to the port 8 of your KVM1. And the rest of the ports of KVM2 should be avail for the computers as well.

Toggling between computers. You need to quickly hit Scroll Lock twice to enable the OSD of your KVM switch. From there, it will give you an option to select which computer you would like to access.

Or you may manually toggle between computer. Here's how:

Scroll Lock twice + port # - Example: Scroll Lock twice + 5 + Enter - The KVM will switch to the computer that is connected to port 5 of KVM1.

If you would like to switch to the computer that is connected to KVM2:

Scroll Lock 2x + 8 (because KVM2 is connected to port 8) + Enter - now the focus of the toggling is in KVM 2. Now, you may hit again Scroll Lock2x + port # + Enter.

You may also refer to the user manual of your KVM for more info. Look for the OSD portion.

Thank you and good luck!

Not switching systems

Make sure your keyboard is plugged into the keyboard port of the KVM. The IOGear KVMs use a keyboard and mouse emulation. Due to this the keyboard port is the only port will recognize the Scroll Lock command.

A probably solution is to press the "Scroll Lock" button (usually at the top-right of the keyboard) twice in quick succession. Give it a try!
