Question about Hannspree HH251H 25" LCD Monitor

Hannspree HF 257 25'' monitor only stays on fo a few seconds and then gradually fades to black, another monitor works fine so the computer is not the problem. The computer was just moved to a new location. Is this fixable?

Is the power light staying on or does that go out as well?
If the power light stays on and if you darken the room, can you see a faint image still on the screen by shining a flashlight at it (close). If there is a faint image it is either the inverter or the backlight tube.

If you are running this monitor from a PC with an HDMI cable, you have to switch the mode from "VIDEO MODE" to "PC MODE". When the HF257 detects a signal at the HDMI connector it automatically changes to "VIDEO MODE" and displays an interlaced 1080i image. It will also overrule any resolution changes that you make on your computer. Also, the screen fades to a darker picture because of the algorithems used by the "VIDEO MODE" to help you get the best picture when scenes are darker.

PC MODE seems to be the only way to get the monitor to do what your PC is trying to tell it. By the way, I had the exact same problem when I first hooked up the monitor with an HDMI cable. I too thought there was a problem until I did some research and found out the information that I've passed along to you.

My HF257 is an excellent monitor and you can't really beat the price! Good luck.

The monitor fades to black, a few seconds after I turn the pc on (even before starting windows); the blue button keeps on. When I turn it off, and then turn it on again, it works for a few seconds, then it...

Simplest solution first; check your cables. If the connections are good, but it still doesn't work, try your monitor with another computer. If it works, you need to update the drivers on your computer. If it doesn't, the problem is with the monitor. If your computer needs drivers from LG for the monitor, you need access to another computer (or another monitor to go online). Go to LG's website and look for SUPPORT. Download drivers for your monitor specific to your operating system (Windows, Mac OSX, etc.) and install.

I have a 22" Hannspree HF 237 monitor about a year

Hi,
It is the inverter problem maybe it is loose or cold solder already. You better open the unit and look for the inverter section then re solder all leg parts there.

Hannspree hf 207 can it be used as a tv? thanks

Hi,

Any monitor can be used as a TV. If you want to make it a standalone TV, you would need an external TV tuner that will hook directly to you VGA input to your monitor. The prices for these devices are relatively inexpensive less than $100.

Hope this helps.

The monitor goes black while on

Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

Hannspree HF229H will not stay on

railbird56, Common problem for ALL BRANDS of "cold-cahtode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd monitors! Here are your options!!! Cheapest to most costly!! 1. Warranty repair. 2 DIY repair???? 3. Local or distant repair. 4. possible old + cash swapout with Hannspree for refurbished same model?? 5. Trade-in for new wide screen. My best guess on your monitor (no history) is that the unit's SMPS is in partial or full shutdown mode during it's black screen moments. How much do you know about "electronic ballasts" "switch-mode-power-supplys" and how to repair them?? 12fixlouie

Hannspree HF-289H LCD Monitor not displaying anything.

conor455, I am sorry to hear that your lc display has been struck down with the "BLACK screen of DEATH". Most likely the "switch-mode-power-supply/inverter supply" has failed!!! If your monitor is out of warranty then i suggest that you find your way to my fixya profile and read some of the responses I and others have already written about the BLACK screen symptom and what you can do to try and repair it!! YOUR DISPLAY IS SICK. The SMPS is in SHUTDOWN mode trying to save itself from further damage and or catastrophic nonrecoverable failure. eg. sparks, smoke, fire!! Leave your monitor OFF and do a little bit of research of BAD electrolytic filter capacitors and other stuff that causes LCD backlight's to fail to light-up. Conor, when you asked "ANYONE KNOW THE PROBLEM?" all I can say is visit YOUTUBE and search for and view some of the longer vid clips of "lcd monitor disassembly and/or lcd monitor repair to help YOU to make a decision as to the fate of your HF-289H. Bye for now. If this info has been of some use, please rate this response on fixya! 12fixlouie aka louie12fix
