Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop

1 Answer

Laptop is rejecting its charger- needs to be fixed. The part where you plug the charger into the laptop is totally loose and cannot seem to hold any charger properly. This needs to be fixed, there is no way around it. Contact information on where to send my laptop would be useful.

Hpdv6500 charger doesn't seem to be connecting

Step 1:
If your laptop charger seems broken, it's most likely because the battery will not charge. You plug in the cord, the lights come on, but the charging light doesn't change or blinks repeatedly. When you remove the power cord, the laptop shuts off instantly due to the depleted battery. There's more than one cause for this, and it's not always a broken charger.

Check the connection between the charger and the laptop. It should fit firmly in the DC jack without wiggling. If it is loose, use electrical tape to hold it in place so the charger can receive power. This is a temporary fix, however, because a faulty connection can create sparks and cause a fire or injury. A loose connection will just get worse over time, so have it sent to a DC jack specialist as soon as possible. Turn off the laptop and flip it upside down. Locate the latch that secures the battery and slide open. The battery should pop out; give it a tug if it doesn't. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol (Methylated Spirits)to the tip of a cotton swab and use it to clean the battery's connectors. Dirt can build up and interfere with the connection, giving the appearance of a broken charger. Let the alcohol dry completely and re-insert the battery. Slide the latch to secure it and plug in the power cord to test it. See if the laptop powers on with the charger only and battery removed. If it does, the battery is the likely culprit and should be replaced. If the charger is truly broken, the only thing to do is to replace it or the power cord attached to it. Look on the bottom and write down the part number. Call the laptop manufacturer for a replacement charger or search for the part number on eBay. If you purchase from anyone other than the original manufacturer, ask for genuine parts to reduce the possibility of problems. Troubleshoot Mag Safe adaptors

First thing to check is that the battery is inserted properly. Take the battery out, make sure there's nothing on the contacts, and then put it back in. The problem could also be that the charging jack on your laptop is loose. If you hold the charging cable plug in the laptop with a little (not a lot) force, or push it a little to the front or back, does it stay charging? If it does then the jack is loose. Your temporary fix is to hold it the way you did while testing to see if it was the problem. Be aware, this fix is strictly temporary, eventually the jack will get loose enough and not make contact at all. Consider calling Compaq customer service and checking to see if it's covered by warranty.

Can not get charger to totally connect into the phone to charge. Do you think there is something wrong w/ the end on the charger or would it be the phone itself?

Check to see if there are any mechanisms on the charger plug that keep it plugged into the phone. If they seem loose or damaged, replace the charger. Also replace it if the tip of the charger looks in any way deformed. Otherwise, it may very well be a problem with the phone's charger input. Try cleaning the input with some rubbing alcohol as a last resort. If it charges but doesn't stay plugged in, the best thing may be some tape to keep it connected. Hope I could help =)

If you wiggle the connection to the laptop and it feels a bit loose, then the power connection on the laptop itself probably needs re-soldering. This is a common problem with laptops. Unfortunately unless you can do it yourself or know someone you can, then it will cost quite a bit to get fixed outside of warranty.

My Acer Extensa 4620Z seems to have a lose connection when I plug in the power cord charger because I have to keep turning it to make sure it holds. Is this repairable.

You will need to disassemble the notebook & bring the motherboard out to check the power socket into which you plug the power adapter. This socket will then need to be checked.
If the solder joints binding this socket to the motherboard are loose, you will need to re-solder it. If the socket itself is broken, you will need to replace it.

Loose batttery charger connection

if you are talking about where you plug in your ac power adapter into the laptop and it is loose, you need to get a new one, can have a computer repair man do it for 60 some dollars, there is special kind of solder to use and so on, for now as a quick fix u can place something under the plug while plugged in laptop, right under where the plug meets the laptop, this will put pressure on it against the board to make the loose connection touch the motherboard til u can get it fixed, this is a very common problem.

The prong that the battery charger plugs onto is loose/broken, how do i take the top off the laptop to do so?

Remove the keyboard first, there may be screws holding the case together under the keyboard.
Make sure you first remove all the battery and drives etc. there are usually screws in these areas that secure the case together.
The top and bottom parts of the case are held together by plastic clips. The best way to open the case is to start at an opening and gently spread apart the case until the clip releases and then continue along that edge and gradualy continue working along the other edges of the case.

This same thing is happening with my acer laptop. I sent it to the company about 3 months ago, and it happened again. I really need my laptop and cant take a month without it. I advise sending it in to be fixed to your laptop company.
Good luck (:

Acer 5050 screen blink...AC problem???

Very likely a problem with the connection between the power pack and the laptop itself. This is usually the weakest point, and often you need to wiggle the connection a little to get a good connection.

It is usually just a solder joint that breaks, but it is a lot of work to get fixed on most laptops so get it replaced under warranty.
