Get a network adapter from your local PC supply shop. Plug it in to a spare slot inside the PC Case. Then install the drives that were provided with it. Plug in the network cable.. ya good to go.

I put a new hard drive in my machine, and cannot access internet because it says this machine doesn't have any installed network adapters. How do I install?

Hello, presumably you've reinstalled Windows after fitting your new drive. Well, you have to find all the drivers for your machine including the chipset drivers (importantly you must install these 1st)) then your system will 'see' the adapter. If you don't have your driver cd's, then you must go to the web site of Acer (obviously from a machine that can access the internet!) and download all the relevant drivers to a memory stick or burn 'em to a cd, then install them onto your own system. Can not locate net work adapter

Possible cause:

The hard drive contains all the necessary drivers that makes the computer function and that includes Internet connection. When you installed the operating system and all other software it does not mean you installed the driver for the motherboard which contains the drivers for the LAN.

Solution:

Run the drivers CD that came with the motherboard. If you don't have the CD. contact the PC manufacturer for the driver CD. Otherwise, you can purchase an add on NIC(network interface card).

New, second modem won't recognize modem

You probably need to install network adapter driver on your new hard drive.
Go to my computer properties, select "Device Manager" and see if there is a network adapter installed and working.

When I try to load the drivers my computer goes to remove rather that install (do you want to continue to remove. . .)Any ideas?

Hello,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

Then go to "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

If it doesn't install automatically, then navigate and go to where the driver is located on your system hard drive or flash drive.

After this, ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should work like that.

(In case you dont know how to uninstall the Adapter, Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties, Device Manager, then select the Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall.)

Hope this helps.

Goodluck

Replaced hard drive on HP dv4000. Install XP Pro and drivers from recovery disk. Updated to SP3. Do not have 1394 net adapter listed in network connections. Connected external hard drive to firewire port...

I would check in device manager (control panel) and see if the network card is listed. It probably has a yellow exclamation point next to it. If there is an exclamation point there, then right click the card and click uninstall. Next, using your wifi to access the internet, download the latest network card driver from the PC vendor website / Motherboard vendor site / discrete network card site.
Install the network card driver and you should be back in business.

Network adapter install drivers

These drivers are readily available at www.linksys.com Just look under Downloads, enter your model number and get the driver. You will probably need to burn it to a CD or Flash drive to install it on your computer.
