Kodak EasyShare C160 is detected and shows up in MyComputer for WindowsXP but does not for Windows 7. When plugged in, a connection sound is made but the device doesn't show up in MyComputer. How to fix? What's wrong?

All that is on Kodak's site is the firmware which makes it work with more varieties of AA batteries and the EasyShare photo manipulating software. I don't see any Windows drivers there.

You PROBABLY need the correct drivers to recognise the Camera.

Go to Kodak and see if they have upgraded drivers for Win 7

No sound on video

The C160 will not play sound when playing back videos. Transfer the video to a computer and play it there to hear it. See http://resources.kodak.com/support/shtml/en/manuals/urg00964/urg00964c3s1.shtml

Follow the step by step instructions given in the following Microsoft web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/takeit/transfer.mspx

You can also go to Kodak site and download their "Kodak Easyshare software - Windows Operating sytems" from: http://support.en.kodak.com/

Both should work.

Please tell me how to get sound on my easyshare c160

Sound is recoded by your camera, but cannot be played on it, as confirmed on page 9 of your camera user manual.

Transfer the video recording to your host pc and you should then hear the audio. There is no way around this as your camera completely lacks the hardware needed to play video soundtracks.

I hope that you have found my answer to be of use; please take a moment to rate my reply.

I am trying to download photos to my pc. All plugged in the the Device Connected box ins blank. Any ideas - its driving me nuts!

OK, when I use my Kodak Easy share cameras on a fresh computer that hasn't downloaded Kodak pictures before I do the following:

Load Easyshare software onto the machine, and install it.

Then, I connect the camera to the computer.

Then, I open the Easyshare software and it may ask a few questions.

Next, I watch the computer (Windows 7) as it loads the proper driver for my camera.

Finally, I click on transfer pictures and I am set with my pictures.

The pictures should show up in the Start Menu's picture under Kodak Pictures.

You should be done.

Let me know how it works out with the Easyshare software downloaded to the computer before trying to load pictures on to the computer.
