Question about Audemars Piguet Watch

2 Answers

Just been given an Audemars watch - don't know how to set it.

I've just been given an Audemars Piguet "day date moon phase" watch. It has three small dials - a "day" indicator at 9:00, a moonphase indicator at 6:00, and a numeric date indicator at 3:00, How do I set the numeric "date" dial?

Without the manual of watches such as AP Royal Oak or AP day date moonphase, setting the date could be a challenge.

I found the following post by ThomasM posted at network54.

"The crown does control ALL functions (day, date, moonphase, and of course, the hour and minutes).

Defining the crown positions as follows:

P0 = crown in, all the way
P1 = crown out first detente position
P2 = crown out, second detente position, or all the way out

P0 is a neutral position

P1 = setting the moonphase. Turning the crown upward (toward 12) advances the moonphase, without affecting any other settings or functions.

P2 = in this position, the crown controls the hour and minute hands directly. At 12am indicated, the date advances, and at 1:30am, the day of the week advances. Thus, as one sets the time through its 24 hour cycle, the date advances every midnight, and the day of the week advances about an hour later."

I purchased a Marco Max watch with day, date and moon phase. How do I set each of the dials to match the correct day of week, month and hour?

The crown has three positions. The A position is when it’s pushed all the way in. You can’t set anything in this position. The C position is when it’s pulled all the way out. The B position is the click between all the way in and all the way out. My biggest problem is that I read the directions to mean that there were FOUR positions. I didn’t realize A was all the way in. I thought there was three pulled out positions.
To set the day of the week (Sun, Mon, etc.): Pull the crown all the way out (position C) and turn the time to just after midnight. The setting will click to the next day. To advance it an additional day, you don’t have to turn the hands another twenty four hours. You can turn the hands backward to before midnight (you will see the day of the week setting click a little, but not go backwards), then turn the hands past midnight again.
I recommend setting the day of the week setting to YESTERDAY. You’ll see why later.
To set the date: 3341598183_60e77d12e5.jpgPull the crown one click out (position B) and turn the crown away from you (clockwise). This will advance the day indicator (it looks like a second hand). To set the month, you have to keep turning until you get past an entire year. There is no separate way to set the month. To make the correct month show, you must keep turning the crown past every day of the year until you get to the correct day.
I recommend setting the date to YESTERDAY. I’ll explain why later.
To set the moon phase: Pull the crown one click out (position B) and turn the crown toward you (counter clockwise). To find out what phase the moon is currently in, here are a couple of websites:
Once again, set it to the moon phase for YESTERDAY.
To set the time: Pull the crown all the way out (position C) and turn the crown either away or towards you to set the time. Keep turning the time away from you (clockwise) until you get past midnight. Once you get past midnight, ALL the settings should change (day of the week, date and moon phase). Now you KNOW you’re on today’s date at just after midnight. Set the correct time and your Luar watch is ready to go!
Review 3342440924_5fa48ca4fe.jpgMany of the Swatch enthusiasts were disappointed that the Luar is a battery powered watch instead of an automatic. With a price tag of approximately $450, it’s a little much to expect an automatic with a real moon phase. I’ve talked at length about what I desire in a watch here:
My desires have changed a lot since that day nearly four years ago when I went looking for the perfect

Trouble with Fossil ME1014

I looked at a picture of the watch. I see the date. the dial that is right below the hands is a moon dial which does the phases of the moon & below that you have a separate second hand. A lot of times on a watch that looks like that if you pull the crown where you set the watch with out half a click it will set the date if you turn it on way and the moon dial if you turn it the other way. To set the moon dial on the watch you need to put it on the full moon when the moon is full again then it will keep up with the phases of the moon. I hope this helps.
