Update to the latest drivers for your sound card and then update the realtek hi-def codecs. Right click on the little speaker icon next to the time and date in task bar, and select "Playback Devices" once you get there you should see speakers and headphones as your sound devices, just change default to headphones and from there once you remove the headphone plug it'll go back speakers being default and vice versa when you plug headphones back into the jack.

Check whether the sound card drivers has been properly installed, to check the same go to device manager and check the sound card status.
Also check whether you have connected the headphone cables properly. also check whether you have muted the sound.

Revert back for more assistance.

If you hear the sound on the headphones then the drivers installed correctly and the defect is either hardware - the jack for the headphones is stuck so the internal speakers are no longer activated when you unplug the headphones = the jack will have to be replaced by a shop - or software - you will have to go into the Realtek HD Control Panel and configure the audio outputs correctly = enable or unmute the internal speakers.
The Panel icon can be found in the notification area or in Start > Control Panel.

Headphone jack does not detect headphone when booted up in windows 7. It works just fine in Windows Xp. I have an Asus A8N-LA motherboard with a Realtek ACL883 chip.

I have found that proper drivers facilitate the Operating System's ability to detect the insertion of headphones. I would start by updating your Windows 7 audio drivers straight from the manufacturer (instead of Windows Update.) and see if that helps...

Use the ones for Windows Vista. Vista Drivers work for 7.

Now considering these speakers plug in via headphone jack you dont need drivers for your speakers. You should be looking for sound drivers for your laptop.
Plug in headphones see if they work if they do then there is no reason why your speakers should not.

After installing windows 7 my headphone didn't work but my normal speakers from my laptop works. i have my Neo Qnote

OK, if your headphones worked fine with your laptop before you installed Windows 7, then the headphones and the laptop are both working correctly. I believe that your problem can be corrected by changing some of the audio settings in Windows 7. This may be accomplished by doing the following:

1. Go to Start, then Control Panel, then Sound.

2. Click on the Playback Tab if it is not already selected.

3. You should see a list of various audio devices that Windows 7 can use to playback music with; like speakers, SPDIF out (digital out), and so on.

4. Look in the list for something that says "Headphones" or "Headset," then click on that device to select it.

5. Click on the "Set Default" button to "Set Default Device."

6. Once the default is set, this should tell Windows 7 that you want to listen to music and sounds with your headphones, and not your speakers.

7. You can also do the same thing if you want to go back to listening with your speakers. Simply follow this procedure, and set "Speakers," or whatever is closest to that, as your Default Device.

I do hope that this works for you. If it does not, then the next thing that I would do is to try re-installing the driver for the laptop's soundcard, then re-booting your laptop. This should work if selecting the default device in Windows 7 does not. Sometimes the driver gets corrupted ("broken"), and needs to be re-installed.

Please feel free to comment on my solution, and rate me as to how I helped you. Thank you and good luck!

Windows 7 and Dell BH200 Bluetooth Headphones

You have to set bluetooth as default audio device. For doing this, go to >Contro Panel> Sound and Audio Devices>Audio(Tab) and in Default Device choose bluetooth device.
In my case, I had problem when i installed SP3 on XP. I changed my bluetooth driver to "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack V6.00.10" and it worked for me.

HEADPHONE IS NOT WORKING

From what you are saying the headphones have a broken wire on the side not working or they are bad. Check the wires in your headphones and that will tell you if the headphones are bad.
