Hello,

On the base is the Do Not Disturb button in the lower right corner. To cancel the Do Not Disturb, simply press the button again.

If that does not work, I would do remove both batteries from the handsets, and unplug the power adapter from the base for several minutes.

Then plug the base back in. Place the battery back in one handset, place in the base for a few seconds. Remove and see if you have a dial tone. If good, then do the same with the 2nd handset.

You will probably have to reprogram any numbers in that you had prior.

Another expert may already given you this link for a manual, but here it is anyway:

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Here is a generic procedure for deactivating the DoNotDisturb service whick works on most of GE 6.0 Dect digital phone

There's a clear button labeled "do not disturb" on the main base/digital answerer, pressing the button would deactivate the DO NOT DISTURB service..

This is a generic procedure for most of the GE 6.0 digital phone, But if this is not clear or if you need more assistance, then you can find the model of your reciever at the base..Just leave those details as comment and we may give you the exact procedure..

How do I get a dial tone.can answer the phone.just cannot dial out

I am NOT familiar with YOUR make and model of phone, BUT.... I've had several cordless phone systems over many years, and have had the same problem that you describe. First, here is some background info for you:

The telephone company systems USUALLY have two different dialing systems:
  1. The "old" ROTARY DIALS worked by MECHANICALLY sending out different numbers of electrical pulses which the MECHANICAL "receivers" at the phone company "Central Office" buildings would read and thus connect you to the dialed number.
  2. Some years ago, a "new" dialing system was initiated. That system was called Dual-Tone-Multi-Frequency [or for short, DTMF].
DTMF uses BUTTON KEYS which put out a different electronically generated TONE [related to] for each different NUMBER key pushed, and THAT series of tones told/tells the phone company Central Office receiver computer the number to which you wanted to be connected.

Around the world over the years, most phone companies have, and still use one of these two dialing systems, AND...

Most cordless phone manufacturers designed their phones to work WITH EITHER system, BUT....

The customer IS REQUIRED to "SELECT" which system his phone company uses, while the customer is "SETTING UP" his/her new cordless phone.

THAT process IS INCLUDED in ALL cordless phone set-up instruction packages I've ever seen!!!!!!

Either you need to carefully read and study YOUR installation-set-up instructions and then PROPERLY set your phone's dialing system [to PULSE or DTMF], OR GET SOMEONE who KNOWS WHAT he, or she is doing to do it for you.

I, and I think no one else is able to guide you via back and forth messaging on this site. At least I know I can't because I'm not acquainted with your cordless phone, AND I don't have an instruction/set-up manual to consult!!!!!

Track down your manual, OR search for a replacement manual; the dialer system selection process is NOT DIFFICULT IF you have the manual!!!!!!!

How do I reset my phone to reset to get back in range it says out of range anyone have instructions ?

Unfortunately, I do not have a manual for the GH-4102. However, most cordless phones get out of range messages at a few points: low handset battery, no power at the base or no dial tone at the base. Other possibilities are the phone base and handset lost the registration or one or the other isn't transmitting/receiving properly.

Things to try: unlpug the base power (from both the wall outlet and the phone) and phone line cord and remove the battery from each handset. Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the batteries and plug in the power and data connections. (Check when you unplug the base power adapter if it was warm; that indicates the unit was at least getting power at that point.) Recharge the handset batteries and then re-register the handsets, if needed.
Consider replacing the handset batteries if they are more than a year old (this includes the time that the phone may have been on a shelf after manufacturing). Try a new phone data cable (RJ11).

Next test your phone line and make sure that you have a dial tone. I like to use an old corded phone with the new phone cord for testing. If there is no dial tone, test the line at another jack. If there is still no dial tone, find your incoming phone line and open the service box. If you have a relatively new service, you will be able to plug your test phone into the service box and test there. If you can't test the line or there is no dial tone at the service box, contact your telephone company. They will test and fix outside problems for free.

If the problem is inside, look at all accessible wiring and make sure that the lines aren't damaged. If only one jack is bad, open the faceplate and fix any loose wires. There are two types of connections. The first holds the conductors under screws and the wire must be stripped back and secured. The other uses a keystone jack. The conductor wires are not stripped but a special tool punches the wires into place. You can find the punch-down tool at many hardware/home improvement stores in the wiring section. See http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for a picture of the correct wiring for the jack.

If your phone line has a dial tone and the above fixes didn't work, contact the company and get the phone repaired if it is under warranty (usually 1 year). If it is out of warranty, then decide if it is worth repairing or if you should replace the unit.

I hope this helps.

What do you check when the phone lists a message of "Check TEL Line"? The phone cord in plugged in so I'm not sure where to go from here. I have a model DECT1480

Usually this means that the phone isn't detecting a dial tone. For diagnostic purposes, I like an old corded phone.

First try a new telephone cable between the jack and the phone. Then try the old phone and see if you have a dial tone. If you have a dial tone with the old phone but not the cordless, then the Uniden needs service. These phones are not designed to be fixed by the user. If the phone is under warranty, send it in. (see page 28 of the manual www.uniden.com/pdf/DECT1480-3om.pdf )

If neither phone gets a dial tone, check at another jack if you have several to see if the jack is the problem or if it is a more global problem. If the problem is at one jack, you may want to open the jack and check for a loose wire. Some wall plates hold the wires with screws; others use a keystone jack with the wires pressed into slots using a "punch down tool". Keystone jacks do not need the insulator removed from the individual wires. For the screw connectors, you do need strip the individual wires. The punch down tool is available at many hardware stores in the electrical section (for wiring homes for ethernet and other services).

If you do not have a dial tone at another jack, find where your telephone service comes into your home. Open the panel and identify how the connection is set up. Some use RJ-11 jacks. In that case, plug in your test phone and see if there is a dial tone at that point. If there is no dial tone, contact your phone company for service. There is a break in the wires coming into your home. The phone company will fix this for free. (If the service doesn't use an RJ-11 jack, you need a special adapter to test at this point. Your phone company technicians will have this.)

If there is a dial tone at the incoming service, you have a inside wiring problem. Check any visible phone wiring for damage to the insulation. If the problem is with wiring inside a wall past the jack, you will need a professional to track the break. Your phone company will fix this for a fee.

I hope this helps.

Need to know if I can use a digital dial tone with this switch

A regular telephone will plug into the ATA from the cable modem. You just plug one of the ports of the phone system (CO port) into the same place and you'll get dial tone.

That VA-208 is REALLY old :-} What, about 20 years?

My cordless phone is clicking when i dial.

Jeanne fist a background history lesson - there are two dialing modes in existence one is pulse or earlier on was known as decadic dialing. This is where the phone would break the connection a number of times to represent the number dialed. Remember the old dial phones that you would dial a nine and it would spin around back to its original position and would break the line nine times . Very Very slow way to Dial.

now to the 21st century - Tone dialing was invented also know as multi tone frequency dialing MFTD by sending two frequency tones numbers and symbols could be encoded to pass through the phone line quickly.
