Flash not working on Sony Cyber-shot dsc-p100

My DSC-P100 is in working order except for the flash. I haven't changed any of the settings. The flash icon still shows on the screen - I have tried using the flash with all flash options like auto, sensor etc. The rest of the camera works.
Can I replace the flash?
Thanks

Just want to know if I can fix the flash or do I have to replace the whole camera (I'd hate to have to do this!).

    Thanks

I have the same issue. Everything else works fine. The flash has ceased to function on any setting.

It would be very discouraging to have to replace the camera due to overpriced thus economically prohibitive service.

It's a sad comment on the human condition, that our throw away mentality has led us to the current state of affairs, as the Sony bigwigs fatten their profits while the consumer must buy a new device to replace the planned obsolesence of their products.

Same issue as the first guy,, Any real solutions

I have the same concern. The flash was working one day and the next not.

Though it was a setting problem, but now believe it is a flash concern.

Has any one replaced the flash on a DSC-P100 camera and how much dose it cost?

I'm gonna disassemble the camera and check it

This has happened to me a few times and all you do is make sure you take out your memory card, push in the reset button for about 3 seconds and it will work again!

I had similar problem - unit flashed but picture was dark as if flash was not synchronized with shutter. Following sassyb77 advice, I took out memory card (couldn't find any reset button), put it back in, and pictures are properly exposed. Amazing. Thanks.

If you need a replacement part for your camera, check ebay or other sites for camera for parts or repair. I did the same thing when i needed a new lcd screen for my dsc-p100. The cost of a new screen was $100 and for sony to fix it was $120 plus shipping both ways. I got a camera on ebay for $12 and replace the screen myself. Fixed for $12!!!!! Now that's much cheaper than buying a new camera! I also have a few for parts so if you need some parts, let me know! I am sure I can shoot you an affordable option!

Amazing!: Removing/reinserting the memory card worked instantly for me, too! :) btw I didn't find any 'reset' button, either.

With the flash activated put the camera to you ear. assuming you have normal hearing when the flash capacitor is charging you should hear it.
If you cannot then assume the flash unit has failed.
Replacing it is possibly a no no
The economic cost make a new camera a better bet
Check out Sony to be sure

If you need to replace the bulb then this site might help :http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledge-center/how-tos/troubleshooting-repair/how-to-replace-your-digital-camera-flash-bulb.html
Otherwise, if the camera is still under warranty then you can send it back to be fixed.

Not sure what you mean? You have 16 single shots one after another Now what do you want to do? Turn the camera back to single shot? Read the Manual -Full manual in PDF format on disk Do something with the shots themselves? Use image editor in computer Do none of these? Try another way of putting the question
