Washing machine stops running will not drain water

Suspect pump.
If competent, isolate and test pump. replace if necessary.
If pump is working in isolation test. wiring to pump will be the next suspect to check. if wiring ok... check board.

Hope this helps.

Fisher & Paykel GW612 gets to rinse stage and doesn't drain properly. The drain pump gets rid of some water then cuts out for a couple of mins, then starts again. It does this 3 times before...

I recently had a similar problem and here is how I fixed it: Locate the drain pump. Connected to the outlet of the pump is a black rubber tube approximately 6" to 10" long and 1/2" in diameter. This tube is connected to a valve. The clamps holding the tube in place can be removed by hand. Take the clamps off and remove the tube. I found a penny stuck in mine near the valve end. How a penny made it through the pump and most of the way through the tube, I don't know, but I removed it, and the washer works as good as new. You might as well put a few drops of oil on each of the pump bearings while you are working on it.

F & P Washer GW612 Wont drain fully unless you repeat spin a couple of times and then wont rotate have taken motor to be tested was (low?)Have replaced no improvement First and fourth light flash and...

Kate - firstly the windings of the stator when measured is 32 Ohms, earlier models was a lot lower between B-Y-R.

The washer will pump - rest pump (Cycles) during the spin cycle, if however it overheats then water will not be fully pumped out. A possibilty is the hose into the drain or sink is too high, or blocked somewhere.

In most cases the washer will indicate an error code.

The LEDS 1st & 4th from the right im assumming 10010000 = Fault code 144 - either you have a loose connection under the display/push buttons panel or you have a faulty motor control module

Kenmore 70 series is leaking water. Could it be the pump?

It depends on WHERE the leak is coming from. If the leak is coming from the FRONT area of the washer, the drain pump or drain hoses are suspect. If the leak is coming from the REAR of the washer, the water inlet hoses, water inlet valve, or dispenser hoses may be suspect. If the leak is coming from under the CENTER portion of the wash tub, the tub seal or wash tub may be suspect.

The first step is to remove the exterior washer case to gain access to view. The following link explains how to replace a water pump (if required) on your washer, but also includes all the steps necessary to access the washer interior:

Allow the washer to fill about 1/3 of the way and turn it off before unplugging and removing the washer casing. The washer will not run once you disconnect the lid switch connector, so you will need some water in the tub to see where the leak may be coming from.

NOTE: If the problem IS a leaking pump, these pumps are not serviceable and will need to replaced.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.

first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.
