Your convergence IC's have burnt out.
Ask yourself this:

Is the Tv worth saving? is it bright and clear? was it good (when it worked?)
if the answer to all of these is yes, then you have a few choices. If any of these are not true, then you should just get a new tv.

Your choices are:
If you are good at soldering, then you can attempt to replace the IC's yourself. (with all of the parts handy, it should take 1 hour)

If you aren't good at soldering, then you can have a friend do it for you, or you can have a mechanic fix it. (tell them that its the convergence IC's that went bad. (pay no more than $200 for the job).

here is what they look like:

(the number may be different)

Here they are connected:

A word of the wise, do NOT open up your tv and attempt this if you don't know what you're doing. There is extremely high voltage inside, even when it's unplugged......so don't get shocked!!!

If you need more info on replacing the IC's, contact me.

Thanks for asking!

Do you have a manual, and are you prepared to tackle this problem ? diagnostics is in depth .
projection TV`s have many protective circuits in them, they protect your CRT`s from damage, over voltage called x-ray, and many others.

5X Blink - TCON & HFR Failure
The 5X blink protection mode indicates a communications error between the TCON/HFR board and the MT5388 microprocessor on the A-Board.
First replace the TCON/HFR Board if the 5X protection mode blink pattern occurs. If the TCON/HFR Board does not repair the problem then replace the A-Board.

I have a 2003 sony kp51ws500 television and there's a timer on the tv and it won't turn on. A red light blinks 6 times then nothing happens. I unplugged, I hit the reset button, nothing happen

read the instruction manual and see how to operate.
if the timer is for to sleep, the problem will be the IC associates with him, you must see the block diagram and w.diagram. and tracking the signal.
go to www. retrevo.com and download the diagram. God bless you

Have sony kp51ws500 won't turn on, it clicks then shuts down and i get 7 blinks on front--had green, blue, and red line issues before

Hi wright
To answer your question;
The 7 blinks code(sony error codes) means that the horizontal deflection has stopped.
The common cause for this are transistors Q8035,Q8038 and the horizontal output Q8024 all located on "D" board.
Hope this help and let me know if you need further assistance.

Sony home theater system started blinking protect

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.
