Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

I have an Etec 4 GB player not playing wma files.

I have an Etec 4 GB player. Either model m982 or m984. I bought it specifically because its supposed to play both mp3 and wma files but when I download books in wma files then try to play them on the player I get a ''Format Error'' screen and then it will not play those files. Any idea what the problem is.

Probably specification is incorrect and wma format is NOT supported
Convert it to mp3

I bought an mp3 player 1 gb but all songs are not played

You need to ensure that the files that you have loaded onto the player are not in WMA format. This mp3 player may not be compatible with this type of file.

I can't get my MP3 to download and play WMA Format

Here is the asterisk behind WMA compatibility - there are two types of WMA files - protected and unprotected. 90% of WMA files are DRM-protected, hence they are either not usable in mp3 players that say they can play WMA's, or the song has a DRM restriction on it that prevents it from being played on an mp3 player without purchasing additional rights.

To avoid the problem completely, only download songs that are in mp3 format. It may be more expensive initially, but they are better in the long-term - even if you found a WMA file that eventually works with your mp3 player, the protected WMA files have an expiration date, so they would stop working after 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years depending on the specific license for each song. Mp3 files never expire, never give you error messages, and work with nearly (if not all) 100% of mp3 players.

Good luck!

File Error

Rip the songs in Windows Media Player in mp3 format. Run the mouse over the Rip tab, click on the black arrow, select Format, then mp3. The DRM license on the WMA's is going to mess you up every time.

No WMA

WMA files often have fixed-term licenses - you will have to renew your music service subscription, or convert all of those WMA's to Mp3 format to fix.

Can you play WMA's on Sansa Mp3 model e250?

the sansa e250 will play wma files, as per Sandisk.
The problem is you bought them from a download service so there DRM protected.
The easiest way I found to remove them is to use tunebite .
Cost is about $30 or you can find it on P2P sites or newgroups.

The down side is it takes about 14 hours to convert 5 gigs worth of music. But you can then play it on anything.

TIP: convert the files to mp3 not wma so they can be used on practically any player

@szwaan wma stands for "windows media audio"

Won't paly WMA files that I bought online!

I remember reading somewhere that if you upgrade your firmware of your H340 from US to international to get video you lose the ability to play DRM music. I from this I would that the international version can't play the copy protected files. I am not sure of the legalities in your location, but you may be able to work around the copy protection. Maybe a google search would give you some hints.

My mp3 Doesn't play some files

Your Muro is an Mp3 player. do you have reason to think it can play Wma's? you can get several converters here http://www.wma-mp3.com/, but i can't tell you if any of them are for free. this one should be for free, but you'll need to check and see if it works for you - http://www.download.com/EasyWMA/3000-2199_4-10404979.html?tag=lst-0-4
