Hi Hari

seems you didn't saw my previous solution
Why don't you use commandline approach to check the virus.
Hope you would be knowing that.
In case, type cmd in the Run box. That makes the command.com appear .Use the command attrib to change the attribute of all files to visible, read /write able. Also system files too .
Now, check directory using the chdir command. That lists all the files in the c:/,d:/or e:/ drive .Then delete or erase the virus files that are visible now using del or erase command.

Now Make a full scan of your system .

Hari,

Am interested in getting the base of this problem. It sounds familiar. Please restate it. You need to be careful at this point so you don't lose your important documents. begin thinking back up while fix the problem.

Please update your problem

    Dear Hari,

It is possible that your internal antivirus is also disabbles by the viruses. Norton is known to be victim to that. If the command run approach failed, you should look at using differnt antivirus. You could scan yo8r hard drive from another motherboard as a secondary drive using Kaspersky Antivirus; it is better tha Norton in diggin them out. Scan all drives twice. be patient. After that backup your files from the healed drives. Consider reinstalling your operating stsrems once you are back on your home motherboard. Sometimes complete surgery is the best route.

This makes no sense.

If you updated Publisher, it should read files created with the "current" version of Publisher *AND* it should read files created with the "previous" version of Publisher.

Using briefcase in vista

It is not uncommon for vista to take an inordinate amount of time to open the briefcase, but there are some steps you can take to ensure the process is smoother. Please have a look at this link. maybe this one too.
You could try run as with UAC turned off, and see if that's the issue. link here. and here. and the definitive scope here. You may just not have permission.
Have you tried creating a briefcase from within vista and moving it to the xp system instead?
Are you otherwise able to access data on the flash drive? If not, look for driver updates from the manufacturer to make it compatible with vista.
Finally, have a look at the event viewer &/or device manager and make sure there are no error codes associated with the drive that are preventing access, or see what error id is associated with the explorer hang. If you get a code, report back and we'll be happy to look into it.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Problem in watching hidden files.

I had earlier experienced the same problem of when you double click the Drives....the response is an open with dialog bo..If they were earlier opening when you doble clicked .Its most probable that a virus has infected your machine..Try to clean it wih a stong and updated antivirus..Also if you have to access the drives try to right click on them and click explore on the pop-up menu..
Try opening them in windows explorer..for option two

Not able to restore my registry settings...

Hi,
try re-installing windows over the top of your existing operating system.
If you get a prompt during setup, stating that you already have files. tick leave intact. or similar.
this can sometimes remedy faults, as windows will only replace missing-deleted or corrupt files on the hard drive.
Your other option, is to obtain disk partioning software and setup a seperate partion on the drive, install the operating system here, so that you can access the first partion.
just out of curiosity, did you go to Tools/folder options/View and tick the show hidden files And Folders checkbox ?

Problem in opening the links !

Do you use a router, or are you connecting the modem straight to the laptop?

Does the modem have multiple plugs for computers to plug into (if so, it is functioning as a router as well.?

Do you have any firewall/internet security software installed?

My guess without the above information would be that it is a problem with your DNS setting. Open "Network Connections" and right click on your "Local area connection" and go to properties. Click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP" entry and click properties. Be sure that it is set up to "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
