The relay in the circuit has gone bad. It will not hold the circuit closed for continuity to flow through. The relay should be mounted on the circuit board which means the board will need a replacement

Overheats in engine but heater blows cold air

you need antifreeze! the antifreeze is what cools your car it removes the heat and takes it to the radiator which is a simple heat exchanger the air from your fan cools the antifreeze down and circulates it through the engine to cool it! but before the antifreeze goes to the radiator it passes through your heater core under the dash which has a fan that blows through it creating the heat for your comfort! in turn no antifreeze no heat in the vents and high engine temps!

In Fan mode, fan works; but in AC mode, I can hear the normal AC sounds, except the fan never turns on. This is the fan in the lower half of the unit in the inside of the house, which blows the air...

on a call for air conditioning your therrmastat brings the indoor fan on and the out door unit at the same time. Since your fan comes on in "fan" mode, it sounds like you need a thermastat. For temp. cooling just turn your fan switch to "on" and turn system switch to cool and set desired temp. System will cycle off and on but fan will not shut off until fan control is set back to "auto". I suggest replaceing thermastat

Does your interior fan come on when you turn on the heat? If it doesn't, then look in the fuse panel for the comfort control fuse. If it is okay, then it will either be the fan motor or the comfort control switch.

Heat won't come on in auto mode; blows cool air in on mde(fan)

these units has 4-steps in heating mode... step-1 when the thermostat calls for heat, the small vent fan comes on and proves that its blowing thru the suction tube and closes a switch,,, step-2 -the next click from the gas valve, the pilot lights.......the #3 step and the next click from the gas valve the main gas comes on and heat up the box. step-#4 the box heats ups and turns on the fan switch and blows heat through out the home, now wheres the steps stops, thats where your problem is located>T Y V MUCH!

My 2000 jetta gl is overheating the thermastat is good and the fans work but when you turn on the heater only cold air blows

sounds like your cooling system isn't full.  with the heater on Hi refill the cooling system and bleed it until all the air comes out.  Sometimes you need to raise the front of the car.  And there may be a bleed screw on the thermostat housing.
