Dell 1700 Laser Printer Logo

I cannot install a Dell 1700 printer to my Toshiba Satellite laptop with Vista Window. It shows the printer is Offline or with an error and the documents in queued. I have to cancel all documents queued. thank you for your help.

    You say yo can't install the printer - then you say you have a document queued up as if the printer is installed? I'm confused? Have you tried installing a different print driver like the 1710 or 1720 - which should work also with your 1700.

Goto the start menu. In the search bar along the bottom type: CMD

a black command prompt will open. In that command prompt type: net stop spooler. It should say, spooler service stopped. Then type net start spooler. It should say, spooler service started. Try reinstall. If you haven't deactivated the UAC controls, then ensure when you install to right click on the installer and left click on "Run as Administrator".

Double check which is the default printer. It should have a check. Or choose the printer while using manual print instead just print.

I want to install windows vista by dell to my laptop will it work?
You can if you have regular Windows Vista disk, do not use Dell installation cd. (borrow from a friend or ask in your local comp. store if they can make you a bootable copy)
Use Vista key from the sticker on the dell computer. Make sure after install you put all the Vista drivers for the Toshiba so everything works ok.

Hi! Regarding this matter. The dell photo AIO 962 may not be compatible with windows 7 thats why it gives you the error message. You downloaded the driver using vista32 but you have a windows 7 on you machine, its not gonna work. It may work on the toshiba if you gonna downgrade from windows 7 to vista, but if you dont want that option you can wait for sometime to have an AIO 962 update for windows 7 for it to work. Keep getting "Printer Offline" from Dell 1700 printer
go to the start menu
click on run
type services.msc
on the list go to Print Spooler
double click on print spooler and select automatic on startup type
now press on start.

if that doesn't work go to this microsoft website and click on the Fix It icon with the little man holding a wrench. run this and it will fix it.

Check the HP website and see if there are Vista drivers for your model. If you installed them from the disk they're likely not compatible.
