Hi there, there are two options here. 1. Buy a new monitor. 2. Go into power settings on computer and set monitor to shut off after a certain amount of activity.

Turned computer on and monitor instantly goes to sleep, also cant turn off the computer using button.have to use switch on power supply

Try this, unplug everything from the other board except the main hard drive, power connections, and monitor. if it does not come up, remove ram cards, leaving one stick. try again, if it is still bad swap ram sticks. If after all of this it still does not work you have a bad motherboard or processor

No display...orange led on monitor.....

Hello,

Thank you for using fixya, my name is Carlo.

You have two possible problems.
1. Monitor
2. Computer

Here's what you can do:
1. Unplug the cord which connects the monitor and the chassis or the CPU of your computer. It's the blue one.
2. Let the monitor to turn on even if it's not connected to the chassis or the CPU of your computer. If you can see their a box which is moving around the screen, then, your monitor is working fine. If none, then you should buy a new monitor.
3. If your monitor is working fine because you can see something on the screen after unplugging it from the CPU, then it's the CPU that has a problem on it.

If the monitor passes the test, then, the CPU needs some troubleshooting. Opening a chassis is not that hard but it still need some troubleshooting hands for you to do that. If you are not that techy, I suggest you get a technician to do that or any person who can do the troubleshooting.

Here's the troubleshooting that should be done.

1. Unplug the CPU the drain the power by pressing and holding the power button for 5-10 seconds.
2. Open the chassis. Then re seat the memory stick. Check if it works by turning it on, you have to connect the monitor while checking it.
3. If no go. Unplug, do the same with the hard drive, but most of the time, if the Led is orange, it's the memory that is not working fine.

Hope this helps.

Everything was fine with this monitor. About 4 years old I think. I leave my computer/monitor on and both plugged into ups. Went to bed. Got up and all I can get is the word acer to come up weak for about...

ray krans, Most owners don't have spare monitor to prove pc is not the problem. Good going!! Now on to your monitor!!! The symptom you have described is not new. If interested in a possible cheap DIY fix, go to YOUTUBE and watch some owners/technicians disassemble and perform the needed replacement of bad (swollen, leaky) electrolytic filter capacitors on the "switch-mode-power-supply" which provides dc operating voltages to other circuits. After viewing some videos you will be able to tell me if you can or can't do the repair. Tell me if you leave your pc and monitor on all year long or if you power it down every day. Cost of new filter capacitors less than $7 total. If you farm-out the repair, cost will increase 5 to 8 fold. Leave additional comment on your plan of action. 12fixlouie

My Dell E207WFP monitor power switch won't turn off the monitor I tried slipping stiff paper around the opening but it didn't work

So long as Monitor works, it is a minor detail. Switches do malfunction.
Either, leave best alone, and turn off at the wall socket, I do or "Spend for Repairs"

The W1907 goes blank when i turned the monitor off and then on

I would say don't turn off the monitor at the switch at all unless you are not going to use it for a long time. I just leave mine switched on and the power save blanks the screen if I am away from it for 20 minutes. I leave my PC switched on all the time as well. If I need to use it for any reason it takes ages for it to start up fully so it's more convenient to just leave it all going so it's ready when I need it. If away from the PC for a day or more switch it off but I keep going back to it all day and night so it's easier for me to leave both on all the time.

Monitor will not turn on including power switch

I suspect the power supply for the monitor. Try a power supply from a working monitor. If you have a used computer store nearby, take your power supply to them and try it on another monitor.

There is no need to turn off a monitor using its power switch. Monitors automatically go into standby mode when they are not receiving a signal. In standby mode they use less than one cent of electricity per day. If saving electricity is your goal, raise the temperature in your home by a degree and run the air conditioning less.

Monitor Display Problem.

The first Polyview has a power supply problem (a short) and locks out the power until it is unplugged. You need to check the voltages inside the Monitor to determine which component/s are faulty. I hope you know electronics if not leave it to the repair shop because you have neither the skills or equipment to repair it. By the way I am not a monitor repair man but I do have 30 plus years in the electronics field.
The second monitor may have a broken wire in the cord that goes to your computer. Other internal components can cause the same simptoms your seeing. Good luck!

I have had similar problems. It would appear that the power supply is at fault, not the monitor.
