Hi there, my best guess is that the monitor connection to the computer is broken. Not being that the little cable is not connected, but that the graphics card is knocked out. You will have to open the computer, and look for the graphics card. When you find the graphics card, make sure that all the pins are connected, if one is not connected, carefully push the graphics card back into it's slot.

My video card stopped working

If you have Integrated Graphics, you will need a Aftermarket Graphics Card to install in a vacant PCIe x16 slot. If it's a PCI ATI Graphics Card installed in your machine , Unplug the computer, remove the ATI Graphics Card and clean the card contacts ,using a can of Electronic Contact Cleaner, reseat and reconnect power and the monitor cable, reboot.

Hummm. Try to unplug everything, reconnect, than restart. If not working, try to plug your monitor on a different computer to diagnose what is wrong, the computer or monitor. It could also be your graphic adapter, verify that it is firmly attached to the motherboard.
Lastly, replace the defective part.

Problem
1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

Solution
One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.

After 4 months computer stopped working ...monitor says no signal

Try removing and then reconnect the monitor cable from your pc then try again to start it. If it doesn't work, Did you do something that might cause this problem to the computer? Did you hear some unusual beeps as you turned on the pc?

Computer starts but doesn't boot

try to uninstall the cord of your monitor going to the cpu this might be loose. if you are using an expansion video card try to remove this and clean this with a pencil eraser. you forgot to specify if you are hearing some beeps upon power on. if there is no beep then the problem is just the connection from your monitor to this videocard(cpu) just try to uninstall then reconnect
