Question about Heating & Cooling

Carrier 58RAV095-16 will process thru the test sequence properly: inducer fan, ignitor, blower high, blower low, all ok. fuse checked good on controller board. when commanded to supply heat by the thermostat controller in the living space the unit runs with fan only, no gas, no ignition. changed thermostat controller, no joy.

thermocouple/ignitor is ok and positioned well. It tests ok too. I changed it last year.

I am not getting gas flow so I suspect gas control valve, control circuit, or controller board.

if i start from point zero and dial up the thermostat, the fan begins to run but the ignitor never heats up and the gas doesnt flow.

if i close the circuit between the 2 test poles to initiate the test, i get a good test sequence including hot ignitor/thermocouple.

    Thanks,

    Hello
Your closing the circut, and getting power to the ignitor.

Have you tried another t stat or check your wiring low voltage side.

Is there a pre purge fan for gas to be cleaned out prior to ignition and if so is it working?

can you feel the gas valve click open, possible bad gas valve.

    Thanks for the help.

The ignitor only functions during a test sequence.

I have good voltage on the low side, about 27.7volts.

there is the inducer fan which tests ok during test sequence.
    , works fine.

    When normal startup is commanded:

    !. gas valve doesn't open

    2. ignitor doesn't heat up

    3. inducer doesnt run

    4. main blower starts

very odd because the tset sequence works fine.

    I have replaced the thermostat.

need to find a way to test the gas valve and the low gas pressure switches.

all overtemp sensors have been tested and check good on continuity.

    thanks,

    Larry

Have you tested the thermocouple for proper operation, and/or adjusted it so it is in the pilot flame?

Thanks

No heat from furnace, Goodman GMPN080-4 Rev A. Cycle is solid red status light, then 3 flashes indicating open pressure switch because the inducer fan does not come on.

Jimbo, it sounds like you are aware of the operational sequence to suggest using a voltmeter to check the actual wires going TO the combustion air fan...if there is no voltage from the board, the board is bad. Just make sure one of the high temp limits are not open... one may be in the blower compartment on some and one will be near the top of the vestibule and a roll out switch should be near the burners. They should all be wired in series.

Always check the manual reset safty switches as the first step in troubleshooting.

Gas dryer won't light. Ignitor glows red and I can smell the gas, but no ignition. New coils didn't fix problem. Any ideas what to try next? Hamper full and wallet empty- please help!

Is your inducer fan coming on first? I know on a gas heat pump yu will hear the fan/inducer turn on for a few seconds, then the igniter will lite, then yu will hear it fire up, this is a safety feature sequence, no gas movement thru system, no ignition, also check the exhaust pipes for holes or cracks

THE DRAFT BLOWER IS TURNING ON BUT NOT FIRING UP WORKING ALL DAY STOPPED OVERNITE

The induced draft motor has a induced draft proving switch that is a pressure switch , it resembles a silver round flat device about 4 inches across with 2 wires, it will have a tubing attached to it that also is attached to the induced draft assembly housing on a barbed port, this is how the induced draft is "proven" thus giving the A OK to go to the next sequence of operation which is ignition trial period, it will attempt a ignition sequence for about 30 seconds 3 times before it will lock out if it has a circuit board, if so a flashing code will be observed and the legend in the back side of the blower door will tell you the codes meaning.
What is wrong 80% of the time is the barbed port on the induced drafts assembly is obstructed by carbon and not allowing the pressure switch to "sense" / prove the induced draft motor is running. You can connect the pressure switches 2 wires after the induced draft begins, this simulates a operational pressure switch and should begin the ignition phase if all is well, otherwise if all safety's or high limits are closed, then the ignition module is bad.

This is for spark type, if you have a hot surface ignitor look to se if its broken or cracked or has a burned spot visible, if not try testing for 120 volts to it, if you read proper voltage, then the hot surface igniter is bad. 25360510-wil0gxehsfojcry3vcxysbjd-1-0.png

Speed fun control airconditioned doesn´t work property.

Two possible areas I would check using an ohm meter. First is the blower resistor which is usually located by the blower motor and looks like a cement rectangle or a ceramic tube with wires attached to it. The resistor should have very low resistance but should not read open from the common lead to the other terminals. If it tests good test the continuity of the fan switch. Some cars have a fuse for the high and low blower speeds so you can check your fuse diagram and look for two blower or fan fuses. Good Luck.

Blower comes on and heater don't

Blower comes on then I am assuming no ignition attempt afterwards? If the blower ( Induced Draft Fan) is not being sensed by the safety pressure switch, ignition attempts are aborted until the fan is sensed. If there is a blockage in the vent system, ID blower or sense tubing itself, those would be the obvious starting points to check. If the pressure switch "makes" (closes) then your investigation should lead you to the ignition process. Is there a spark at the pilot burner (if there is one), Is the Hot Surface Ignitor glowing? Is the gas turned on? All can be checked visually.

Weathermaker 8000 furnance flashing code 31 blower comes on for 90 sec .. then shuts off .. then other fan goes on.. don't see any flames or lighting goin on can you help?

31 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT CLOSE OR REOPENED - If open longer than five minutes,
inducer shuts off for 15 minutes before retry. Check for: - Excessive wind
- Proper vent sizing - Defective inducer motor
- Low inducer voltage (115VAC) - Defective pressure switch
- Inadequate combustion air supply - Disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing
- Low inlet gas pressure (if LGPS used) - Restricted vent
If it opens during blower on-delay period, blower will come on for the selected blower
off-delay.
