SOURCE: I have a Kenmore top load washer (110-22642100)

HI THERE, IT SOUNDS AS IF YOUR PUMP IS BLOCKED, NOT WORKING OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS. START BY CHECKING THE PUMPS IS NOT BLOCKED, LOOSE CHANGE NORMALLY CAUSES THIS AND IS RELATIVELY EASY TO FIX.

Finding the pump on the Kenmore Elite top load washer is a fairly easy project that can be done in about a half hour. The Kenmore Elite is part of the GE line of appliances and shares many of the same interior mechanical parts and systems. The Kenmore Elite is a very streamlined exterior cabinetry design, but the interior can be accessed by removing just a few screws in order for you to locate the water pump.
things you'll need:

  • Screwdriver
    • 1

Unplug the electrical cord of the Kenmore Elite top load washer from the electrical outlet before attempting to locate the pump.

    • 2

Remove the end caps on the control console of the dryer by pressing in on the caps with your thumbs and pulling the caps forward to unfasten them.

    • 3

Unfasten the screws on the ends of the control console in the front with a screwdriver and tilt the console back so that it rests on the back hinges.

    • 4

Unplug the top lid switch from the rear of the lid that sits underneath the control console, pulling the switch straight up off the metal prongs by hand.

    • 5

Pry the metal clips that sit on the top lid up with a screwdriver, lifting the clips to unlatch the top and pull the top lid cover off the washer base, setting it aside.

    • 6

Locate the water pump at the base of the washing machine on the top of the motor shaft.

    • 7

    • take the cover off the pump and remove any blockage or debris.

thanks and good luck

iain

SOURCE: kenmore washer...the water just runs it never fills up.

I have seen this problem numerous times on service calls. It sounds like you have a siphoning problem. The key symptom is the wash tub that continously attempts to fill, but cannot achieve the proper water level. This is often caused by not having an air gap on your drain line, improper placement of the drain hose, or a standpipe that is too small in diameter. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

If you place the drain hose in the standpipe too far, or seal the top of the standpipe, this can cause a vacuum which will cause the symptoms you describe. A tell-tale sign will be a sucking noise as you pull the drain hose from the standpipe. Read through the link I provided. If this does not correct your problem please post back and let me know before you rate this solution. This way I can try to assist you further. I hope this corrects your problem.

My kenmore 110 wont agitate or spin...no grinding but you can hear the motor moving

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. The drive motor controls the spinning and the agitation. You need to check it out. You probably have something broke in it. It may be a coupler. Make sure your belt is not broke though.

Hello; My washer will not agitate or spin. It does **** out the water. My guess is the "agitate" belt is broken (I can hear the motor running, but there is no agitation or spinning). Appreciate...

you have a broken motor coupling.remove the two screws that hold the top console down, flip up the console, remove the two metal clips and unplug the harness closest to the right clip.open the lid, grab the frame tilt it up and back and the whole frame can be removed.look at the bottom, remove the two clips and slide the pump off,do the same to the motor and on the back you'll find the motor coupling.most likely it will be broke.remove the other half off of the tranny.install the new coupling and you should be fine.if you need anymore help let me know

My kenmore elite washing machine ( TOP LOAD) is not agitating or spinning". is it the belt or the clutch. Modle # 11024952300

there's no belt in the kenmore washers, they have a motor coupling.take out the two screws that hold the top console down.flip up the console it's on hindges, next with a screw driver pop the two metal clips and unplug the lid switch harness that's in between the metal clips, then open the lid and grab the frame, pull the frame to you and up and remove the whole frame.on the bottom you'll see the pump, with a screw driver pop the two metal clips and slide off the pump.take out the two screws and pop the metal clips and slide off the motor.on the back of the motor you'll find the coupling broke,it sounds like alot of work but it takes around 20 minutes to do

No spin cycle,on any setting. seem like it wants to spin but can't

you have a bad motor coupling, they brake all the time, remove the two screws holding down the top console, lift it up,with a screw driver remove the two metal clips and remove the lid switch harness,it's a white plastic piece in the middle between the two metal clips, now remove the frame of the washer, down the bottom you'll see the pump, with a screw driver remove the two metal clips and remove the pump, now remove the two screws and two more metal clips and remove the motor,on the back of the motor you'll see the motor coupling,it should have three plastic arms on it but they probably are broke, also on the tranny the other half of the coupling is there remove that, the part number is 285753A and it's around 19 bucks, tap on the new coupling one part on the motor shaft, the other on the tranny shaft and slide the black rubber piece on the tranny part of coupling and slide the motor onto the other half so they lock together and this is what spins the tub.if you need help with anything else let me know, also if you can let me know how you make out with your washer, good luck. the coupling brakes all the time from overloading the washer<!-- from fixya rte -->

Washer does not spin but makes loud clicking noise?

sounds like you could have a problem with your basket drive tube, around the clutch brake area! my machine would not spin and i found out the bottom of the basket drive tube had been ground off by the thrust washer which resulted in the clip that holds the brake release arm fell off and broke the 2 little pins on the brake release arm and it would not disengage the brake to allow the basket to spin, i bought a used basket drive tube and a new clutch ,installed and unit works fine now,,,so take a look also check your motor coupling see if it is broken ,,, and 1 more thing ,up under your agitator is the basket drive block sometimes it shears off the notches on the top of your drive tube!

Kenmore 20692 top load washer won't spin. The

This is most likely a motor coupling. Pull washer towards you about two feet tilt back, look at floor for black sute. The coupling is attached to the motor to the transmission. It cost about 15.00 and takes a novice less than an hour. There are two 1/4 inch srews, one on top one on bottom , remove these use a scwrew driver to pop off the clips, pry off coupling on both side and replace.

Top load washer -- no spin during spin cycle

Sounds like you a broken coupler. This is what makes the washer spin. You can check this by leaning the machine back and feeling for a rubber coupler between the motor and transmission. if this part wiggles or is missing replace it, its broke. Another sign of it being broke is rubber under the machine when you tilt it back. If the coupler is ok replace the clutch.
