Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Wired up amp and hooked up sub. Everything was working for maybe a minute or two the it just quit. it is wired correctly and all connections are good. I had a funny smell and a little smoke coming out of it. The red light on the top of the amp comes on but no sound. Checked owners manual and it told me to check the RCA from the head unit. I replaced it with another one and still no sound. Is it dead or is there another problem?

Why would this happen? Is it just a bad amp or did I do something wrong?

  • kdavis1581 Feb 01, 2010

Do you think that this is a warranty issue? It was a brand new amp. The people I bought it from are asking me to send back and if it is a warranty issue they will send a free replacement.

SUBS WONT TRUN ON

Hello fresttadefjm,

There are no subwoofer settings on the Pioneer DEH-2800MP.

You need to check the external power amplifier and the connections from the Pioneer and from the sub(s). If everything is plugged in and wired correctly, check the amp fuses, both on-board and the main power fuse (located in the amp positive lead usually near the vehicle battery).

Hope this helps.

Memphis PR300.2 Amp protect light on

If it is not turning on your problem is it is not getting power. Check your fuses. The reason an amp goes into protect mode is usually because the subs are not wired up right. Make sure your fuses are good, you have a good ground, and make sure your amp turn on wire didn't come loose when you were putting the deck back in. As for the amp going into protect you probably wired the subs down to too few ohms and the amp you have can't handle it. Try hooking the subs up straight w/o bridgeing them and turn it up to see if it works. If you don't have problems with it then you wired your subs wrong.

Low output on subwoofers

You may have wired the sub backwards or it could be only somehow hooked into one channel instead of 2. I think this is a wiring problem.
