Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I've connected an S-video cable from my laptop to my TV before and it worked. But the next day I tried doing it exactly the same way and the TV says ''unusable signal.'' What's really odd it that the connection works only during the first couple screens of the starting up process after I restart my laptop. Could some process on the computer be hindering the connection, once Windows starts up?

Make sure it is set to a low resolution say 800x600 to start with, also ensure you have the "Other" monitor, ie: TV, activated, "Extend the Desktop to this Monitor" and set to Spanned or Mirrored, under "Display Settings". Also turn TV off, then plug it in from laptop, then turn tv on, then start pc. Also ,make sure you have latest drivers for your card.

Connecting a pc to a kp43t75

if you have s-video out on your laptop you can plug it in that way, or you can TRY a VGA to RCA cable, i've found these hardly ever work correctly, but they're relatively cheap compared to a new laptop lol. it looks like the only inputs on that TV are S-Video and component, which means you're pretty limited.

How do I connect my Laptop Acer 5735 to my TV Sony KDL-40NX700, what kind of connection cables do I require?

If Your TV and Laptop have HDMI Port then you just need a HDMI Cable.
But if you dont have HDMI port. then you need two cables one from video and one for audio.
For Video you either VGA Cable(if you have VGA Port in your TV) or VGA to RCA Cable (Yellow Pin will be for video)
For audio You Need 3.5mm pin to RCA (white and Red for audio).
This pic is of VGA to RCA Cable

I'm trying to connect my Sony TV with my Dell laptop using a VGA cord. The picture on the TV has a blue ting to it. I hooked it up the first night & it worked fine, then the next day it was tinted...

Hi there,

You might need to replace the cables as the cable you are using has some disconnected points. The pins of a vga cable represents different color signals, if there is a disconnect, the pictures will not display with a complete video 256 colors.

Hope this helps.

Connect Laptop to TV

It depends on what kind of TV you have. If you have a flat-panel LCD or plasma TV, it may have a VGA connection already installed. If that is the case, all you need is a standard VGA cable to connect from your notebook to your TV.

If you have a TV without a VGA connection you will need a scan converter to convert your signal from VGA to RCA or composite video signal. These can be purchased online or from electronics stores like Radio Shack. You plug your VGA connection from the computer to the scan converter, then RCA or composite video cables from the converter to the TV.

Hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Playstation 3 console not displaying on tv screen

Make sure all the video cable connections are plugged firmly into the back of the PS3
The sound you are hearing indicates that you are on the right track. To get the video to work you will need to select the correct channel on your TV set. Connect the video cables (yellow) to the video INPUT of the AV port of your TV and then change to the AV channel on your TV set to view the picture.

Please let me know if this did not fix your problem
Cheers

LCD TV and VGA output

The resolution and refresh rates have to match exactly to the TV for it to work correctly with the computer.

The newer computers are using much faster refresh rates by default. Their default resolution is also different.

Consult the manual for the TV and see if the computer's external monitor output can be set to match to what the TV exactly requires. Both the refresh rate and resolution are critical.
