Flame out on a DCS Patio Heater

After I ignite the patio heater it will run smoothly for a couple of minutes and then click and it will shut off. I can immediately relight the heater and it will run again smoothly and shut off in a matter of two minutes.
Thanks,

Thermo-coupler (cheapest to fix) or valve

The DCS is one of the better patio heaters. You're pilot is probably partially clogged. When a slight breeze blows it off of the thermocouple it will make a click sound and shut down. Clean the pilot assy and make sure your thermocouple is not loose in the valve. It's not very common for the electromagnet in the valve to go bad but it has happened.

My gas endless summer heater shuts the flame off abruptly after 5 minutes or so. why??

The first consumable part to fail on a gas patio heater is the thermcouple, these can last anywhere between 1 year to 6 years. When faulty it will cause the heater to shut off when turned on at pilot. Found this site very useful patio heater problem solving.

Portable patio heater is a DCS Phoenix Professional Patio Heater Model PHF8-DWBZ-L. Burner ignites and operates for a few minutes. Then teh flame is reduced to a short yellow flame. Regulator is covered...

The regulator covered with frost is the problem. It freezes the gas and the gas line up. But, usually this only occurs when it has been exposed to subfreezing (in the teens) temperature for a long period of time. The quick fix, is to soak a bath towel in hot water, ring it out and quickly wrap it around the regulator. Once it thaws, the gas will start flowing again and you can light the burner. Generally, once it's flowing and being used, it won't freeze up again, right a way. Most propane companies add ethanol to the propane in the winter, to help keep it from freezing in the lines and the regulator.

Hope this helped answer you question and provided, at least a quick fix solution.

Have lost the control turn knobs for the ignition and heat settings

Gas control knobs can be very specific to the patio heater. Best to go for a universal or adjustable control knob, these have a grub screw that can be tighten to get a good fit, found this specialist patio heater company very helpful.

Charmglow gas patio heater

Your thermocoupler seems at fault. The thermocoupler is that probe that sits in the pilot flame. It controls the main fuel valve. Make sure that probe is in the pilot flame, better at the tip of the flame and hold the button down for a minute or so after lighting the pilot. If pilot extinguishes, the coupler is faulty. If pilot stays on the heater should fire up when you let up on the pilot button.. Good luck
