Re: It says its not connected
First, try installing the newr version of the software from the Philips website - www.usasupport.philips.com - enter your model number
If that fails:
Repair the device
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. goodluck!

well try using windows media player just go to the place where it says insert a device, plug in ur device using windows media plauer. then after it will say that inserts things to sync or something like that, then drga the vids into there then sync it on. also it will convert by itself. good luck!
You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them. The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk. If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs. This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them. Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
I bought my MP 408 yesterday and had the same problem. I looked inside the packaging just before I threw it away and noticed a small cd. On the CD you will find the manual and a video to SMV converter. Create a file where you can copy the video to SMV converter software into and create a shortcut on your desk top.You are ready to go, connect your player and start the software. set the destination file to MYvideo on the player, add the file you want to convert using the add button and click on the convert button and that's it. you can resize the video screen size prior to converting if you need to via the on screen panel on the righthand side of the screen.
one thing not related to this problem in any way but you might like to try this and that is throw away your ear phones you got with the player and put some reasonable headphones on and you will be amazed how good this little box sounds especially if you tweak the built in graphic equalizer, have fun,
